These mofo's asked me in game for a good review, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥; these punk asses are good devs. What a bunch of douche bags, not only making a good game, but asking for a review. I'll change this if it gets worse, but considering they have a second game coming out soon, I guess it's sound. Devs, suck a fat one; and thank you for a great game... Douches...

Has trouble connecting.

If it wasn't for the connection issues this game would be recommended. It's a good game and is really fun, but this is absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I played 2 partial games out of the 4 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hours I was trying to play it for. I haven't had issues like this since Windows vista era. Keep in mind, it's working. The game is functioning and I'm able to connect. It's just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the bed. I have great internet and a high end PC. It connects to the server instantly, then you wait 3 minutes for it to load up the map. However you will be sitting waiting for it to load while listening to a loop of "run through the jungle" and then when it shows the map is loaded. It kicks you to the main menu. However not the "main menu" the main menu is now loading screen. Which takes another 3 minutes or so. I say 3 minutes to load in and out, but it can take longer. I say 3 minutes because I don't actually know. I've only played 2 matches. I wanted to love this game so badly. I'm glad I didn't buy it, I'd have remorse.

This review will be updated once I get more experience. This is just an initial review.

I want to say I'm really impressed with the engine and what It can do. I made my first 3D game as a final for my Coding School Boot Camp, Bottega Tech. I've made 3 small games so far. One was just a basic madlibs, the 2nd was a platforming game, and the third was a 3D local co-op soccer game. Being someone who came from Fusion/Game Maker/RPG Maker, I will say that Godot has more of a learning curve than some of the drag and drop engines. Although not by much. The code is GDscript, which is a lot like Python. I was currently learning Python at my school, which is why I decided to learn this engine; I thought it might expand upon things. I was pleasantly surprised.

So as of right now, I recommend the Godot engine; give it a shot if you're interested. There is a lot of helpful resources online. It was enough for me to get my accredited certificate from Bottega Tech, so I gotta thank the company for that at least.

If this game is on sale, I bought it for 2 dollars. Then consider this a recommendation.

My main issue is the price being 13 bucks. I didn't give it a recommend because I don't want to recommend when it doesn't technically deserve it. This game tricks you in a lot of ways. Not saying it's a bad game, but 13 dollars is not worth what It promises but doesn't deliver on. The game spikes in difficulty after the 2nd level. Which isn't a big deal except its from a rubber band effect. It's artificial difficulty. Most of the enemies at this point aren't actually a challenge, it's more that the game just speeds them up behind you. So the slow enemy will become fast, once you kill the first place enemy. It's really obvious as well. Someone you don't see the entire race is all of a sudden constantly on your ass. Very strange. Also on the bosses the camera is waaaaay to close. There is a power up to increase the camera distance, but you can barely notice it. So when fighting the bosses you kind of just cheese ♥♥♥♥ it. Most of the game is cheese ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Which means you kind of cheat the AI when you realize their weakness or get lucky.

Not a bad game, but cheap. So if you want to create something cheap, then people should buy the game cheap.

I love this game, if you like 3D platformers; check this out you owe it to yourself.

That's the short review, if you want more hype then I'll expand upon that. I'd hear about this game for a while and was fairly excited about it. To be honest I was actually a little more exited for Yooka-Laylee, which wasn't terrible; but wasn't the revival of 3D platformers. THIS, a hat in time, is what we've been waiting for by far. I can't say enough how polished and loved this game is. You can see with every small detail of jump accesability. That might be a strange term to use. What I mean is that if you play platformers and you take away the graphics in your mind, you can see the "Track" that the developer wants you to take. I replayed "Psychonauts" another one of my favorite games, and I realized that there was definitely a set path they wanted you to take. You can see the world without the graphics and realize in your mind. So after a while you start to feel like you don't have the same freedom. In the 3D Mario games you have set paths, but people who are skilled can overcome them. That might have more to do with it being so long since a lot of them came out. Sometimes using glitches, if you watch speed runners that is. A hat in time says if you see it, there is probably more than one way to reach it. I've watched reviews of people playing it and nobody does it the same way, that's a testiment to the games love and care. It almost looks like how Sonic games perform, where you see people just naturally navigating, as if the game were on rails. However unlike sonic, It's not on rails.

I really can't say enough, I'd have to do a video review to do it justice. I'm making this now because this game needs more good reviews, it has overwelmingly good reviews; however it got overshadowed by cuphead because games journalists suck at playing games. Which is a shame because this game really deserves more attention. I think over time it will become known as a classic, it already has a cult following. Please try this game. It's more than worth your time.

Um It's kind of short. It says I spent 16 hours on it. I completed all of the side missions. Except for half of the races, but the races only last a couple minutes anyway. So I would think (assuming I won the race) that it would only add maybe 10 or so minutes to my playtime. That's considering I had 3 or something races left over.

It's a good game though I recommend it. I had it in my steam library for a while and initially passed on it because it looked kind of bland when I first had heard of it. So yeah I recommend. That's the short review. I'll add a bit more if you're interested.

So about it being very similar to games you've probably played. LIke Borderlands/Fallout kind of post apocalyptic. I feel like this was "Id" expressing their "ego" (that's a joke kids). I get the feeling they made it similar to those other games because they wanted to one up them. They don't really do that though. The open world is a lot smaller than you think it is. A lot of the missions make you replay a dungeon that you beat, but in reverse. Like the first mission you do, you enter through the front door; then the 2nd mission you play it again but through the back door. Considering that it goes on sale a lot and I think I got it in a bundle or something. I can't remember when I bought it but I know I got it cheap because it's on my account. It has a lot of flaws. Even full price at 10 bucks it's probably worth it to be honest. There are a lot of flaws though. You don't even get the "BFG" weapon till the final mission and there isn't a boss to use it on. It's kind of wasted to be honest. I didn't actually fire it because I was conserving ammo thinking there would be a boss or something. The final "boss", is actually just a bunch of the cannon mutants that they sent after you in waves while you hit switches. It's something people usually put in the middle of a level. Not the final challenge. Also there is no ending. There is one but it's not an ending. (spoilers or what ever) The ending is a satilite turning on. Woo hoo... I guess.

Ok enough complaining, I'll list the things I like and why you would probably like it. So it's got good gunplay, but enemies are a bit bullet spongey but that's usually remedied by the secondary ammo or just using a better gun. There is more than enough money to just focus on getting the better ammo anyway. I didn't know that though and ended up hording my money and swapping guns to try and conserve ammo and such. It's fun though, the racing missions are entertaining. There is a cool variety in certain missions. It has a good cast of characters, and for the most part you care a little bit about the people you are helping. The facial animations are really good. Like in comparison to a lot of games, people look like people. Almost too much maybe, like I swear I've seen some of the characters in real life. There is a merchant in the first area that looks like a dudes uncle I once new. Even has the same mannerisms.

It's short, sweet, and fun. I'm not sure I'd play again, but I'm not unhappy with my purchase and that's what counts.

*Quick bug fix to play it in windows 7*
It says I have 2.5 hours of play. I actually played this for 26 hours in game clock. For some reason it runs in like slow motion when I use steam to open the game. You can fix this by going to the steam folder it's located in and open it in windows XP 2 mode. To get the trading cards you need to open it from steam and then just lit it sit till you get the cards. I put this first because people gave this game a bad review because of this issue.

*Actual Review*
I really liked this game. This is part one of 3, as of this review I haven't played the other parts yet. I just beat this game today. It's a fun and a lot of times funny game. The humor hits most of the time, I think it's probably hard to nail timing with unexpresive graphics and text. So for as funny as it is, it's well written.

You are pretty much playing this for the story and a little fun with the puzzles. The RPG elements are bare bones. Like I never used the special abilities other than to see what they did, they just aren't effective. It's a better strategy to save your stamina for your secondary move. That's basically combat. You use your strong attack until you are low on stamina, then use your normal attack till you regain it. So if you are looking for an indepth RPG experience, then it's not here.

I'd say it hits closer to a good point and click adventure game (I played it with a Wacom Intuos draw pad) with some light combat mechanics. The puzzles can stump you for a bit. I think the longest I spent on a puzzle was like 5-10 minutes or so. Not challenging, more "Oh duh" kind of puzzles. Which I enjoy.

It goes on sale a lot, so check it out when it's a dollar. I recommend it for full price though. It's worth it.

I waited over two years to write this review.

I wanted to write a good review back when this was early access. It was really good back then, for a time being. At some point one of the updates made the optimization terrible. I'm able to run the newest games coming out and wasn't able to play this game above 15 FPS. I remembered how fun it was though, and waited. Hoping they would eventually fix the issues. I kind of forgot about it for a while, till just this last week. I saw it had been released and thought I'd give it another shot.

I'm pleased to say it's better than it was, I mean it's finished so that's to be expected and all. I'd recommend this game to anyone really. There is enough here for people to play the way they want. It does the whole voxel thing, which some people don't like. It does it better than most games do however. If you were snake bitten by no man's sky or those "spaceraria" type games. This one will scratch the itch. You're on only one planet, but you can tell from the screenshots alone that there is a lot to experience.

Almost everything is customizable, which a lot of people are going to like. I just want to give one warning about that. Play and beat the main story line first, then go crazy with the custom weapons and such. The reason I say this is because pretty early on you can make custom weapons and basically overpower yourself right from the get go. If you don't have a problem with that, and that's what you're looking for then... well that's now an option you know.

There is too much for me to point out, just know that this is an amazing game. I'm glad the developers kept working on it and didn't abandon it. It shows and more people should play this game.

This game is one of the best first person fighters I've played. Actually scratch that, it is THE best first person fighter I've played! Some people call it a hack and slash, that's more because first person fighters don't really exist. The fighting mechanics are top notch. Once you get deeper and deeper into the mechanics, the more you want to play.

It has some trouble because there are a good number of bugs. Leveling up can take a while because the game frequently forgets what weapons you've leveled up and how much experience you have. It's a minor thing considering most of the better class weapons are the starting ones. It comes down to preference at higher levels of weapons.

The greatest strength the game has is that it feels closer to real combat than most games do. The weapons are fairly balanced, there are some notable weapons, that perform less than expected. However, it plays into the game, because people will think you're not very skilled for choosing them, so they get cocky. Once they think they have the upper hand, they will be more prone to mistakes.

I recommend this game to anyone (maybe not little kids, it's kind of violent), It's unique and worth the cost. For its asking price, it's a bargain. I give this game a 9/10, I'd give it a perfect, but there are the leveling bugs. Once those are fixed, this is a perfect tournament fighter. It's gaining in popularity, so give it a try.

Thank you for your time, 9/10
