This is embarrassing, release a completely unfinished and untested DLC with an update that affects the base game which can brick saves it also breaks basic mechanics and can softlock/break a run midway through. You can just look it up if you want to know the specifics.

On top of all that which is not that suprising to be fair it broke modding but the modders states that they will not even touch current version of the game since the game developers completely remade alot of the code.

So right now the best option to play Risk of Rain 2 is to downpatch to before they broke the game, that's just sad.

It's not much to say, another corporate overreach.

The game will now require that you sign into a PlayStation Network account to play the game. Apparently there was a grace period when the game launched so that is the reason why you didn't have to sign into a PlayStation Network account before.

I will have to say that it was never communicated at all, I think I remember that I got a popup when I first played at launch that the game asked me about linking my steam account with playstation or something like that in one of the menus but much like everything else in the game at launch, it didn't work. So I assumed it didn't matter since I could play the game fine after.

That was the only mention of any sort of Sony account that I got from the game. If it was communicated that at some point in the future you have to make an account to play then atleast I could have weighed my options if I really wanted this game or not.
Now it feels like a trap.

I have played other games where making an account was optional to receive either a bonus or convenience. An example being Baldurs Gate 3 where you can make a Larian studios account in the launcher for the game to get cross platform saves and other bonuses, but you can skip that if you want and play anyways. I thought this game fell into this category when it comes to making another account, where in this case if you made a PlayStation Network account you could play with people playing Playstation and PC if you wanted. I was wrong.

I don't want to go and research and ask around everytime before buying an online game on Steam if I have to at some point make an additional account to play a game. If it states this when I first boot up the game its an easy fix I either accept that I have to make an account or refund, simple.

I'm going to like many others try to refund, but like many others I'm outside the normal refund policy of Steam. So I hope there is going to be atleast some effort from either Steam, Sony or Arrowhead Game Studios to make an exception so that I and others can refund the game.
