One of the best and probably most influential games made on RPGMaker. Play it blind, play it with a map on your phone, install it on your friends computer to confuse them, go straight to Uboa, come up with another wack fan theory, do whatever!

The Dream World is the whole appeal to Yume Nikki. Even after seeing all the sights and uncovering the secrets, I'm always coming back to the nexus to explore it all again because it's left an impact. The sound design is perfect and the dream denizens range from bizarre to iconic. I don't find the world(s) too overwhelming or too sparse, it strikes a nice balance that way.

I will say that if you aren't impressed with the visuals, atmosphere or bare minimum game play and lack of cohesive story, there's not much else left honestly! Madotsuki isn't a super exciting protagonist despite being great cosplay material, I suppose.

It's really not for everyone, but it's so simple there's no reason to not give it a try. I can't complain much since it was free
