Early Access Review
Amazing city builder in its current state, incredibly promising if development can continue the current trajectory and realise more of the potential here.

Learning curve is real, for sure, but it's not unfair once you get the hang of it. Randomised resource nodes can suck sometimes though.

Combat is neat. A pretty good implementation of a Total War style system with morale and stances and terrain effects. Not currently balanced, but the developer has acknowledged this.

Sound design is good. Graphics are incredible. Game runs really well, considering how it looks and what it's doing.

Price is high but honestly, not unreasonable for what you get compared to spending the same on Cities: Skylines.

Reviewing it now because it's been out for a year and they haven't unf*cked any of the ♥♥♥♥ I was hoping they would.

Fun game but good ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ luck playing it if you live in Australia. Will put you in servers with >200ms of ping 95% of the time. There are AU servers but you hardly ever get to play on them.

Also: it crashes. A lot. My mate crashed out in **his first ever match**. I crash out of what feels like 1/10 matches. My other more different mate gets about the same rate as me. Oh and you can't rejoin, even though your spot gets filled by a bot, and you still have friends in the match. Utterly ridiculous.

Besides that, the positional audio and audio mix in general is awful, the game runs like ♥♥♥♥ (R9 5900X, 3000MHz CL16-18-18-36, RTX 3090, NVMe SSD, so not lacking in the hardware department) for how it looks, which isn't helped by the complete lack of an exclusive fullscreen mode.

Still no DXR or upscaling features, which for a triple A game is laughable, seeing as there are indie/indie-ish games with those features (The Ascent, Control, etc).

TL;DR: One of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AAA PC ports I've seen in a while, and practically unplayable in my region due to looseness of region-based matchmaking.

Main story is good.
Side stories are good.
Open world stuff is fine but really underdeveloped.
Combat is good, not quite great (I used a big iron and gorilla arms for most of my playthrough, mileage may vary based on what you use, idk). Combat AI could use some work. Enemy variety sucks.
The people who designed the KB M control scheme should be shot in the street.
Graphics are amazing, some LOD pop-in occasionally, but otherwise very stable and immersive. The amount of detail in the environments is nuts.
Soundtrack is excellent, general atmosphere is really good.
Police and the crime system are absolutely terrible. GTA this is not.

I get ~45-50fps on psycho settings, RT settings maxed, DLSS quality, at 3440x1440. Can be as high as 80fps in some sections but usually isn't. RTX 3090, r9 5900X, 32GB @3000MHz 16-18-18-36.
It's playable but far from ideal for a shooter.

Absolute top ♥♥♥♥.

It's fun, though it definitely takes a bit to get used to, and even then you can still get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by roguelike RNG.

Plenty of stuff to unlock and the difficulty options seem robust.

My only two complaints are that the graphics options are a bit lacking, and there's mouse smoothing enabled by default that you have to go into a config file to turn off.

Otherwise it's excellent. 9/10 it does exactly what it sets out to do.

Four hours in, seems very good.

Runs quite well for how good it looks (80-120fps @3440x1440. DLSS Quality, no VRS, everything else maxed - without DLSS I get between 60-90fps).

Gunplay feels good, ammo is a bit scarce for my taste but I understand that is the whole point.

Stealth is decent, doesn't feel unfair, nor comically easy.

My only gripe is you only get 4 saves and they get overwritten by the auto-save.

Don't be fooled by the trailers and tags, this isn't a shooter. It's a stealth game, first and foremost. You only barely have enough ammo to kill all the enemies in the unavoidable combat sections, so you're forced to stealth past every enemy you can.

Great game with excellent world and atmosphere, voice acting, and soundtrack, there are two glaring problems though, namely:

No ultrawide support. You get vert- so the top and bottom are cut off and you get shot by enemies off-screen. They have fixed this now

Multiplayer is kind of scuffed, with desync of hacking clearance levels, and side objectives, among other things. Also fixed as far as I can tell.

Really good immersive RPG; graphics, voice acting, story, visual design are all excellent.

The combat is decent but lacks depth.

The combat lockon system is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ war crime.

It's good:

- Graphics are very nice, cohesive style.

- Gameplay is challenging, loadout system is robust.

- Loads of free cosmetic options.

- Soundtrack is excellent.

- Native ultrawide support, robust FoV slider.

Downsides include: the performance issues it seems unable to rid itself of (UE4 says no I guess), primarily fps drops well below expected levels when under heavy load, and occasional micro-stutters for some people.

Also, the objectives do get a little stale after a while, but the combat is satisfying and frenetic enough to carry it through usually. I'm personally a little burnt out on it but that's after almost 200 hours. For $30 it's excellent value, though I'd definitely recommend playing with friends as pub groups and solo don't quite have the same feel to them.
