Proton works just fine with Payday 2 so in the end it's less work for them with no difference for the end user. I entirely agree that the way they went about implementing the Epic servers was bad but I don't understand the complaints about the native Linux build being dropped when you won't even be able to notice a difference. In fact many have reported an increase in stability and performance with Proton because of it's DXVK wrapper.

Criceto Yeah but Overkill ended all support to Linux, it's not gonna get any more updates and they won't be able to play with Windows users

Payday 2 still works on Linux though? I've been playing it perfectly on my Steam Deck.
