Needs some work, but considering the circumstances for its development, and history in the series I'm willing to give it a pass.

This is a positive rating, but only just barely.

MW5: Clans is a definite change from the previous game MW5: Mercs, but it does not do much of anything to improve on the previous installment. Mech Chassis still limit the size of weapons inserted into slots, and there are a very limited number of overall mechs available (unless you count omnipods?).
The feel of the game is still more FPS than Battlemech walking tank.

The more on rails campaign style of story is fine considering the setting, but the writing feels somewhat off. Most of it feels fine but your allies in the star are similarly bland and empty when compared to the hired crew of the previous game. Surely a set in stone character should feel more like a human than a semi randomly generated JPEG.

Otherwise its mostly just more of the same "fine" Mechwarrior we get nowadays.

Good Game

I was hoping the QOL issues would have been sorted by launch, but as of writing this there is (in no specific order)
-No solo or offline play
-Abysmal and entirely useless party and matchmaking systems
-Leveling is gated by battlepass-esque challenges
-Eight heists at launch (Less than payday 2)
It feels like an early access game at best, but it isn't listed as such on the store page. I'm worried and confident that this is nothing but a desperate cash grab from a greedy dying company.

Its more of the same game, but this time with more jank movement.

Its tough to use some of the weapons due to the insane movement, but its a price I'm willing to pay. Between the movement and titans this game feels incredible to play, just expect some veteran players to make some games a little one sided.

I've put 16 hours into the first chapter of this game so far, aside from some crashes and bizarre cutscenes this game feels fantastic.

I really want to love this game, but its an absolute ♥♥♥♥♥ port. Give it a year or so and maybe it'll get some optimization and bug fixes.

I don't know where to start with this game, I have mixed feelings about it depending on how my games go. Sometimes you get into an exciting firefight lasting the whole match that involves every duo or trio on the map, other times you start a match and some sneaky bastard drops you 15 seconds in with a crossbow. If you do plan on picking this up, its best enjoyed with friends for your first matches. Nothing beats the sheer terror of being chased down by dogs with the boys.
