As of 9:00 PM on May 5, 2024 Sony has relented and will not be pushing the account linking update forward, therefore I shall update my review to bring the review score back up in the name of managed democracy.

I love this game and would gladly recommend it to people trying to get into MH games....HOWEVER, capcom has decided they hate their customers and added DRM that tanks performance, doesn't let it run on steam deck, and essentially tries to brick your game if you have REengine installed.

Fun fact: Within a day, the modding framework was already updated to bypass it, making the drm utterly worthless. I'll swap this to positive when/if they remove the drm crap

It makes people simping for the billion dollar pokemon company upset so it's GoTY for me.

Extremely boring sweaty comp shooter with only two game modes

Spawn in, play for ten seconds, die to something, wait twelve seconds to respawn. Great game design.

I liked this game even on release, but post 2.0/Phantom liberty has made this into one of my favorite games of all time. I put over 100 hours into the game since the dlc came out to 100% complete it. Every car, quest, side gig, ending etc. etc. It's something I've never done for any other open world rpg, and yet I still want to keep playing this game to try out new builds. Phantom liberty alone may be one of the best story expansions for a game ever made, and you owe it to yourself to play it if you enjoy the game.
