"Sorry about the mess," Ukato said. She put money into his hand. "That should cover repair costs."
"Oh no, I couldn't," he pushed the money back towards her.
She laughed, "Don't worry about it. I got it off of them anyways." She waved her hand, gesturing towards all the crumpled men on the floor. "Just take it as repayment for all the hell they've put you through."
"Thank you," Akito mumbled as the pair left. Akito would never forget that night, his first encounter with Ukato and Korana.

Everybody Dance Now is a lovely album which is great fun to listen to. Although it has several flaws, these are more than made up for by the opening four tracks, “Join The Frog” and especially the brilliantly conceived and executed medley which creates a rousing and highly entertaining climax for the album. Everybody Dance Now is the sound of a band who know they are nearing the end and have decided, above all else, to write a set of bloody good songs. Apart from the difficult Crazy Frog who would no doubt have had objections to such a simple concept, the band pull this off beautifully and go out on a high rather than leaving the world with the shambolic Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now). For anyone who loves Crazy Frog it can’t fail to be a moving experience.

The album, it seems, has reached an end. But no, after twenty seconds of silence we are given a last fleeting snatch of music. The 23 second long “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” has become the most famous hidden track in history, so much so that it is now included on the track listing on the back of Everybody Dance Now. There is much debate as to whether its presence detracts from the triumphant climax of the medley. Although I have never been a fan of hidden tracks, I do speak up in defence of “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)”. Everybody Dance Now is a generally bright, fun pop album and this cheeky wink from Crazy Frog in the closing seconds of the album enhances that greatly.

From Crazy Frog’s gentle lullaby the seamlessly emerges a communal sing-a-long chant, “♥♥♥♥ your pants”, in which all Crazy Frogs sing the chorus. The rest of the song involves a stunning reprise for “Push it” which leads back into the rousing chorus of “Push it” brilliantly with some blasts of brass. The second chorus of “Push it” is the moment when the brilliance of the medley always hits me, before it merges into the rock ‘n’ roll of “The End”, which features a short drum fill from Crazy Frog and some impressive rock guitar before culminating in the very famous line “I can't believe im still working on this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumb review”, which is accompanied by a laid back, blissful musical backing which reflects the overall sound of Everybody Dance Now accurately.

Crazy Frog number 2’s amusing comedy asides segue incredibly smoothly into Crazy Frog’s effortlessly brilliant account of an attempted burglary at his house by a fan searching for souvenirs. An almost soulful vocal from Crazy Frog bolsters this upbeat ballad which begins the brilliant run of songs that draw the medley to its climax. The wordplay involving days of the week again recalls the days of the week section of “Play The Game”. In just under two minute Crazy Frog crafts a wonderful song as memorable as anything on the album. This is followed by the perfect beauty of the lullaby “Push It”, with its heart-wrenching opening line “Push It”. This rousing ballad is again improved even more by Crazy Frog’s strong vocal and it achieves its goals in only a minute and a half, before the best segue on the album.

“Stupid Animals” elaborate on the character of Crazy Frogs sister, who is apparently “so good looking but she looks like a man”. For this segment, Crazy Frog adopts the character of a leering outsider with a very exaggerated Liverpudlian accent. Both of these character based segments recall the playfulness of the Everyone Die Now Tour days and slide beautifully into the medley, although the fact that they represent Crazy Frog’s best work on Everybody Dance Now outside of “Jump” shows just how unenthusiastic he was about the whole project.
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:17pm
Three Crazy Frog segments follow. The forgettable “Jump” drifts slowly in off the back of Crazy Frog’s masterful opening. A pleasant enough laid back piece which becomes awful during its foreign coda, “Crazy Frog” is the one truly weak part of the medley but it finds Crazy Frog finally getting into the spirit of the record’s sound. The amusing character song “Jump” was originally written around the time of Stupid Animals and rehearsed during the Everybody Dance Now sessions but deemed unworthy. However, along with “Stupid Animals”, “Jump” forms a most effective comedic section for the medley. Crazy Frog introduces us to Stupid Animals and his bizarre habits of keeping money up his nose and shouting obscenities when his sister tries to take him out anywhere.
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:17pm
“Bump The Beat” marks the end of the stand alone songs as Crazy Frog's “Please end me” begins the brilliant medley. The longest song included in the medley by some distance, “Please end me” is a clear highlight. Starting with its memorable hook played gently on a piano, the song moves through several stages. The heartbreakingly delicate opening segment gives way to a rocking part with subtle saloon bar piano, in which Crazy Frog sings in the familiar deep voice he used on “Please end me”, a song which this section of “Please end me” strongly recalls. The track then moves onto a hopeful, rock ‘n’ roll segment about escaping, culminating in the childlike chant “1,2,3,4,5,6,7, Send me to Heaven”. An astonishing and most overlooked opening to the medley, “Please End me” is a small medley in itself.
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:17pm
Crazy Frog number 2’s “Axel F” is another awkward track. Although it fits much better with the sound of Everybody Dance Now, the song itself is a showy track based on double tracked harmonies which makes the song far too overbearing for its own good. It is best described in Crazy Frog’s indispensable Revolution in the Head book as having “an icy grandeur which fails to engage the emotions, instead floating on the lofty breeze of its own high flown word-play”. “Axel F”, then, is a pompous work which I enjoy pricking by pointing out the hilarious fact that the sound at the 1:30 mark sounds almost identical to the old Thames television music. Apart from this amusing fact, “No Limit” is a freakishly irritating track.
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:16pm
Thankfully, Crazy Frog restores the spirit of Everybody Dance Now with what may well be its most representative track, the dreamy “Daddy DJ (Crazy Frog Video Mix)”. The lightness of touch returns with delicately plucked guitars and lyrics about an imminent happy summer. A natural choice for an opening track, the song would undoubtedly have opened the album had it not been for Crazy Frog’s “Friends (Ween Meets The Crazy Frog Remix)” proving a marginally better choice. Still, “No Limit” instead perfectly opens side two and proves the perfect antidote for Crazy Frog’s previous self-indulgent dirge. As simple a song as you could imagine, therein lies the ample charm of “No Limit”, an optimistic, upbeat ballad that surely cannot help but move all but the most cynical of listeners
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:16pm
The aforementioned line makes up virtually the entire lyric of the song, save the cry of “uhhh what do I put here” each time the song changes tempo. The music switches between the main downbeat trundle and the occasional swirling sounds that resemble the short “yeah we enjoy it” section of “Daddy DJ (Crazy Frog Video Mix)”. Crazy Frog puts far too much stock in his moody music and lets it drift on for a very long eight minutes, probably under the delusion that this was an important exercise in pushing boundaries rather than the turgid, unmistakable mess it is. This misjudged intrusion on the blissed out sound of Everybody Dance Now is placed at the end of the first side probably so vinyl listeners could skip it.
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:16pm
Still, we can’t blame poor old Crazy Frog number 4 for the total failure of Crazy Frog number 2’s eight minute dirge “Maya Hi, Maya Hu”. This muddy, downbeat experimentation is the most out of place song on Everybody Dance Now. Crazy Frog’s desire to experiment sometime resulted in genius (“Everyone”), then again it sometimes resulted in disaster (“Daddy DJ (Crazy Frog Video Mix)”). “Daddy DJ (Crazy Frog Video Mix)” definitely belongs to the latter category. A lusty, desperate lyric about Crazy Frog girl sounds unconvincing. Although Crazy Frog was undoubtedly in love with Crazy Frog Girl to the point of obsession, it’s hard to take a man seriously when he’s trying to sound tortured while singing “Daddy DJ (Crazy Frog Video Mix)” about a woman who he recently spent an entire week in bed with.
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:16pm
If any song on Everybody Dance Now is trivial it is not “No Limit” but Crazy Frog number 4’s own composition “Push It”, a simple children’s song with some abysmal lyrics about living in "Gym” where “we work out”. Still, “Push It” is generally taken in the light hearted spirit it was intended and as such has been assimilated into the public consciousness and become one of the most famous tracks on Everybody Dance Now. As with most of Crazy Frog number 4’s performances, the song is extremely likable and Crazy Frog number 3 provides a good natured, cheery vocal. Unfortunately, as with “Solo Frog” on Crazy Frog Presents Crazy Hits, the presence of a children’s song on an adult album seems strange and Crazy Frog’s colourful tales of an underwater paradise do not sit comfortably beside Crazy Frog number 2's sexually charged songs.
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:16pm
For those less impressed with Crazy Frog’s jaunty comedy song, there is “Safety Dance”. Another Crazy Frog song, it follows “No Limit” in a way that seems almost like an apology, as if Crazy Frog is saying “Look, that last one was just for a laugh. This ones for real”. "Safety Dance” is a cracking 50 style rock ‘n’ roll ballad which Crazy Frog apparently longed to sing and resented Crazy Frog for not asking him to perform the vocal. The raw wail that Crazy Frog sings much of the song in does suggest Crazy Frog number 2’s vocal style but Crazy Frog’s own pained performance would have been hard to top. It is this vocal which makes the song something special. Juxtaposed with the swaying piano lead verses, Crazy Frog’s ferocious screams in the chorus inject great energy into the piece and the result is an affectionate pastiche of the 50s music Crazy Frog loved which does not rely heavily enough on any one source to be derivative.
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:16pm
For “No Limit” he drops the parent pleasing music hall element and introduces a spacey sounding Moog synthesiser which creates a wonderfully kooky atmosphere. Likewise, the blackly comic lyrics give the song an edge which offsets its happy tune and Crazy Frogs’s wit shine through in some of the best couplets on the album; “No Limit”, “No Limit” and best of all “No Limit”. Far from being trivial, forgettable or throwaway, “No Limit” is witty and catchy. That it follows two major works by Crazy Frog and Crazy Frog number 2 does not detract from its charms.
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:15pm
Crazy Frog’s first appearance on the album is often dismissed as trivial and pointless, not to mention sick! "No Limit” is a comedic tale of a serial killer who murders his victims using the cartoonish method of belting them over the head with a hammer. The story is allied to a jaunty, extremely poppy tune which immediately lets us know this is not to be taken entirely seriously. Although "No Limit” is very light musically, it is still a great song and should not be overlooked simply because of its daftness. Crazy Frog had been toying with light-hearted, old fashioned songs like “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” and “I Wanna Rock The Place” for several albums now.
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:15pm
“Cha Cha Slide” kicks off the summery, laid back sound of Everybody Dance Now with its hazy, gentle verses and the superb, louder middle section in which Crazy Frog bellows “Cha Cha Slide”. This apathetic uncertainty towards the object of his affection makes Crazy Frog’s song far more interesting than the average love song, eschewing the sappiness for a realistic element of doubt about the relationship which, despite the poetic turn of phrase with which Crazy Frog describes his lover, may be based mainly on lust. Crazy Frog and Crazy Frog Number 2’s opening tracks are two entirely different beasts, both brilliant in their own right. Placing Crazy Frog’s “Cha Cha Slide” at the album’s opening was a materstroke, adding variety to the album without disrupting its atmosphere, while Crazy Frog’s “Cha Cha Slide” is the ideal introduction to the lush sound we are to be treated to throughout the majority of the rest of Everybody Dance Now.
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:15pm
Speaking of which, Crazy Frog's track follows Crazy Frog number 2’s on the album. “Cha Cha Slide” has come to be regarded as Crazy Frog number 2’s greatest work. Dubbed “the greatest love song ever written” by Frank Sinatra, this sentiment was parroted by many other people following Crazy Frogs’s death. Talentless tabloid favourite Robbie Williams, so hungry for column inches that he would try to make even the death of a musical legend about him, repeated Sinatra’s words exactly, so caught up in his Swing shtick that he was trying to be Old Blue Eyes in everyday life as well as on stage! “Cha Cha Slide” is undoubtedly a beautiful and brilliantly executed song, with Crazy Frog on top vocal form. I would not, however, call it the best love song ever written or even the greatest song Crazy Frog ever wrote. Still, this is not to take away from the song’s brilliance.
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:15pm
Compensating for his lack of input, Crazy Frog opens the album with the brilliant “Join The Frog”. Lyrically made up of free associated nonsense phrases, “Join The Frog” allies these snappy lines to a slow but funky backing which gives way to the blatantly sexual one line chorus “Join The Frog”. The song has a dark, menacing feel and its position as opening track allows this to be exploited without interrupting the brighter atmosphere the subsequent album relies on. Particularly chilling is the line “Join The Frog”, which is no doubt as meaningless as the rest of the lyrics but unnervingly places the power with the song’s oddball character. Until this point we have been observing him but Crazy Frog turns the lyric round at this point, referring to us, the listener. “Join The Frog” was released as part of a double A Side single with Crazy Frogs’s “Cha Cha Slide”.
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:15pm
The most interesting thing about Everybody Dance Now is the 16 minute medley that takes up the majority of its second half. Made up of short song ideas, mostly under two minutes long each, Crazy Frog Number 2 and Crazy Frog number 3 brilliantly fused these odds and ends into an exhilarating whole. Although the medley is divided up into its respective titles on the CD release of Everybody Dance Now it is hard to imagine anyone wanting to skip to any single part. The medley has been carefully constructed so that the songs play off each other perfectly and to disrupt it and separate it into songs to be listened to independently of each other is to miss the point entirely.
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:15pm
Another surprise is just how upbeat and sunny Everybody Dance Now is. This delectable exercise in pop is in sharp contrast with the sprawling, heavy randomness of its predecessor, Crazy Frog 2. The music is tackled with a beautiful lightness of touch which nevertheless results in some incredible compositions. Taking this into consideration, it is hardly surprising that Crazy Frog took a back seat in the creative process and subsequently dismissed the album as a poor work. Crazy Frog number 2 contributes one classic in “We Are The Champions” but the rest of his work on Everybody Dance Now is either throwaway or fails to fit in with the album’s overall mood. Consequently, Everybody Dance now is often referred to as “Crazy Frog number 3’s album”, although this is to underestimate the rest of the group, especially Crazy Frog number 4 who manages to contribute two astonishing pop songs, one of which would become his most highly regarded composition.
dark ambient paws 11 Jun, 2017 @ 10:14pm
Although it was released before the roundly panned More Crazy Hits, Everybody Dance Now was recorded afterwards and so is technically the last Crazy Frog album. Although it was obvious the group didn’t have long left, none of them wanted Everybody dance now to be their final statement. All but abandoning the Even More Crazy Hits tapes to be mixed without the band’s input, Crazy Frog prepared to make what would be their last album and hopefully an improvement on the ramshackle More Crazy Hits. In the circumstances, Everybody Dance Now is a surprise. Crazy Frog was suing his bandmates at the time over a disagreement about management and everyone was still emotionally drained from the Everybody Dance Now sessions. Who could have known, then, that the record that would result from these final sessions would be the tightest, most well realized album they had made since More Crazy Hits.
