This is probably the best combat system in any video game I"ve ever seen with a sweet addition of roguelite progressions

Textbook case of mediocre, 5/10 game.

Impressions after completing the game (100% achievements unlocked) on Underdog difficulty (4th out of 5)
- HUGE reduction of RPG elements, making it basically an action game (think "God of War" or "Batman: Arkham" RPG complexity)
- Annoying combat system, which even though is engaging, makes all enemies a bullet sponge and only min-maxed builds can speed up the fights. Also, combat with bosses is very dependant on Weakpoints and Detonators system, and trying to fight them any other way that this is a hell on Earth
- The only commands you can give to your companions are attack and use skill A/B/C. No way to control them or even place them on the battlefield propperly to their role
- Dialogues when speaking with your companions are "Bob the Builder" level of writing, Choices and decissions have no real consequences and Rook always has the same conclusion no matter what dialogue option you chose
- Companions themselves are very uneven, there are some really interesing ones like Davrin or Emmrich, most of them are unremarkable jak Neve, Lucanis or Harding (however I"d kiss those freckled cheeks any moment I saw her, she"s a cutie) and some ot them are boring (Bellara) and even plain annying (Taash)
- Managing your equipment is a mobile-game level of simplicity, however it gets some depth when reaching later enchantment options
- Forgettable story, with Marvel-like structure, however there are some story arcs that are memorable (Davrin"s and Emmrich"s personal quests, most of the Grey Wardens arc)
- Previous games don"t matter. You can only import JUST ONE decissiong from base "Inquisition" (romance) and 2 from "Tresspasser" DLC (fate of the Inquisition and how the Inquisitor percieves Solas). No impact of "Origins" and "DA2"
- Horrible visual style of characters, both NPCs and enemies, only main character and companions" outfits are fine
- Locations are designed to be very visually appealing, including different themes and leading motives and are mostly fun to explore (however I"d cut some metroidvania elements)
- Very complex VISUAL character creator, very simple MECHANIC and LORE character creator (there is no prologue explaining why your character is recruited by Varric as crucial asset, there"s just a wall of text)
- Soundtrack is forgettable, wasn"t distracting but I remembered none of the songs and game has no real leading motive
- Treating players like they"re 5 yo, leading them through all environmental obstacles and giving answers through puzzles
- Jumping with F, and need to pause each time Rook is using dagger abilities
- No major bugs and glitches
- The fact that one of the characters starts identifying as non-binary (but I gotta admit, through hillariously badly written dialogue) and you CAN (not are forced) engage in same-gender romance isn"t a "WoKe PrOpAgAnDa". Go touch some grass

With $250 million budget of this game (not including marketing and probably two previous builds of it) and $70 price it"s just very dissapointing experience. This is mediocre game overall and bad RPG game. "Veilguard" leaves impression like it is a game for people who don"t really play video games, not able to compare it"s elements with other, well-made AAA products and people who are more interested in seeing any piece of Dragon Age world and lore, not seeing a good, memorable Dragon Age game. Game for the people treating (and reviewing) video games like movies.

Plusy
- solidna narracja przepełniona nawiązaniami do Lovecrafta
- oprawa graficzna pokojów
- interfejs
- nieliniowe podejście do zarządzania ekwipunkiem
- system medytacji wpływający na bieg wydarzeń

Minusy
- oprawa graficzna zagadek

Jako fan oryginalnego komiksu Bill Willingham "The Wolf Among Us" to spełnienie moich marzeń. Z niecierpliwością czekam na drugi sezon!
