Having to pay money to fix bugs is still wild.
If the game wasn't as broken as it is every year, then maybe it could ethically be sold as the sandbox tool it was probably conceived as.
However SI barely succeeds in delivering even on the lowest expectations, selling this is basically a 9€ tax on enjoyment after you inevitably run into a problem with your save (Bonus points if it is something they haven't bothered to fix in years).
It just feels bad and kind of dishonest.

this game slaps

The game has gone a long way since the first time I played it, which is not the sole reason why Terraria is a great game. It combines several game genres into a superb mix of sandbox, adventure and roleplaying aspects. The Sandbox part is heavily crafting based and feels a bit like the sandbox aspect in Mincraft, but opens up a sheer number of possibilities for building and mechanisms in the game. It also mixes great with the roleplaying part as Terraria is full of armor, weapons and accessories to craft and due to this to build a character from unequipped to godly, which is a blast. But not everything can be crafted. A lot of weapons, gadgets and so on must be looted from the well designed enemies, several bosses and dungeons included, which is why the adventure part in Terraria is so fun. Not only are the gamestyle and the mechanics in Terraria a clever coup, but also the game design is fantastic and humorous and pays great attention to detail. As these genres are also known for their longevity it is no surprise that Terraria has a great replayability and that you can play a single character on a single map for hours. However it may become boring over time depending on your favorit part of the genre mix and because of that the game only really shines in multiplayer. My recommendation if you want to give it a shot is that you should have 1-3 good friends to get the best experience.
