Bait and switch. Game and official Sony website initially stated a PSN account was optional for play and now they have swapped and forced a PSN account to be mandatory months after the game launch.

EDIT: Changes apparently reverted due to backlash. Don't forget the staff insulted customers and used this as an excuse to ban anyone they didn't like

Unless you've been playing this nonstop since release on another platform don't try.
Skill based MM is non existent and will put brand new players in games against people that have hundreds if not thousands of hours and all the basic heroes are seriously lacking compared to those you can unlock.
The main game mode played also enables armor perks for those that have dumped a ton of time/money into the game to min/max gear so new players are double ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Fun to play if you have friends to set up custom matches for duels, otherwise do not touch.

50v50 battles with squads that actually co-ordinate is magic.
Mature population is a bonus.

Runs like crap, movement feels sloppy
