First off, I"d like to point out that the game has been review-bombed and has had a negative review rating for the majority of its current Steam page listing. Currently, it has a mixed review rating. I feel this is extremely unfair as the company is going above and beyond to provide an amazing gameplay experience for both its early supporters and new players as well.

Iron Mace had to deal with a lawsuit that forced the game to be taken down from Steam. In response, they put the game up on their own website with their own launcher for $30. They won a preliminary injunction, returned the game to Steam, and offered a free-to-play (F2P) option. Previously, there was no way to upgrade the game, so the F2P version was more of a demo than anything else. Since it wasn"t listed as such and was advertised as "free to play," people got upset and review-bombed it.

In my opinion, the F2P experience is perfectly fine. You can play normal dungeons and create one character. You are not limited to any class and can experience the looting system, PvP system, PvE mechanics, and pretty much everything the game has to offer, except for High Roller. High Roller is a mode with significantly harder PvE, more difficult mechanics, and enemies that move, attack faster, and hit harder. The payoff for this increased difficulty is much better loot. If you enjoy the F2P experience and have fun with the game"s mechanics, you can pay $30 to upgrade and get "Legendary Status," which gives you access to posting items on the market and the High Roller mode. For a game that was never advertised as free to begin with, you are basically receiving 75-90% of the game for free.

Now for the actual review:
Dark and Darker is a great dungeon crawler with quite a bit of depth. It features multiple different classes and weapons to use, three different maps to play on, different seasons with rewards, and a trading system with merchants that provide quests. There are also end-game bosses you can learn and fight together with friends. Overall, it is a very good game with very promising potential for the future.

There could be a better form of replayability, the missions are kinda lack luster imo, just go kill this or go collect that or put this in this spot. Still a fun game tho imo, very tense during PVP situations, the actual creatures are cool as well. If the devs add a few more maps, maybe more end game content, it"d probably be really great. Take what I said with a grain of salt tho, im still pretty early game, but from the way the game looks like its going there isn"t much to do once you finish up all the missions other than just drop in and kill other players.

The game just came out like a minute ago... Still the community that this game has on the fourms, and in the various discord servers is amazing. I can only see this games community growing and improving over time. Even though the game just got released I have had so much fun on the fourms talking to people and especially trying to solve THOSE RUNES... I 100% recommend this game.

Amazing and Fun game! Have over 900 Hours in the game so far. Has a very steep learning curve and once you get the hang of it it is very rewarding! Has a bunch of bugs but every time one is found steam rolls out an update pretty quickly!
