I bought this game in late 2017. Even playing in solo was a fun adventure. Back then, there wasn't nearly as many features as there is now, but even though it was pretty simple and basic, I still loved playing it. Now, ASTRONEER receives major updates monthly, which I think is really impressive, and must be hard work. My favourite recent updates have to be the Exploration Update, which introduced the jet packs and the Creative Update, which added a new Creative game mode, like Minecraft.

However, this game has had MANY bugs and glitches in it. Some were just visual bugs, others affected game play. When playing multiplayer with some of my friends, sometimes our tractor would straight up just fall through the ground. This was really annoying as we were trying to explore the new updates. It seems System Era has been hard at work trying to fix these bugs, and I think they have done a pretty good job.

The art style of this game is amazing, with this cute and cartoonish style with polygon landscape, which I think fits perfectly with the play style.

I recommend this game to anyone who wants a fun adventure, whether you're playing solo or with your friends. I also recommend this game to anyone who has played Minecraft as I think it is similar in a way, as you can collect resources and build things.

For the people who are looking to buy this game, don't. The videos for this game are misleading and show pretty good graphics, however, I had my game on full graphics and it still looked awful. The resolution didn't work, I tried setting it to 1920x1080 but i had two black borders on the sides. The character creation was absolutely horrible as you basically had only 1 skin colour and you could for some reason make the head really big (I understand that this isn't the sims but still). I know this game was released before rust, but honestly, it just feels like a really bad copy of it with pixelated dinosaurs. All this horrible stuff for $60! Never buy this game, not even if it is on sale.

This is an amazing game and deserves all the praise it gets. I have only encountered one crash and no glitches in my 195 hours of playing this game. I kinda wished there were more features and there were more frequent updates but I understand how theres only 1 person who made ALL of it. I highly recommend anyone to get this game, even if its not on sale.

Negative:

I would love to give the game a positive review as i have almost 90 hours on it but there are too many glitches and it makes it unplayable. When i first started playing because my friend recommended it to me, it was really fun because we played privately, just me and him but i started playing publicly on multiplayer servers - that's where all the problems came. You would usually come into a game where 1 person is alive and they are flying around even when there is no map, you would occasionally you would phase through the ground and fall to your death and this is the most annoying one - when you can't pick up weapons anymore for some reason and then people just teleport to you and shoot you in the head or just shoot through the wall.

I really think these problems should be fixed ASAP because they make the game unplayable. Landfall really should've put more effort into it before releasing it and it really seems like they rushed it, I think they should've given themselves more time to do it.

Now, time to talk about Player-made-maps. I think its a really good idea to allow the player to make their own maps because playing the same, in game maps can get really boring and repetitive. But with the player made maps, you can see really cool maps that other people have made and have fun with them. You can even try to make your own maps and then show them to your friends or even a bigger community but I actually don't really like them and would prefer if you could just stick with the normal maps. Sometimes when you go into a new server you see "Downloading 1 map out of 200" and you're like 'well, i guess I'm not playing this one' and just leave and join another server but most of the time it just goes back to the same server and then you just decide to not play that day. Some players make really crappy, poor made maps and it can get annoying, some maps are even so laggy that you can't even play because there are so many weapons.

So, I think its time to give the game some Pros and Cons (That's what people do right?)

Pros:
-It's fun to play with your friends and constantly kill them
-A good, nice variety of maps
-Only 4 players so it doesn't get too chaotic (although it still does even with three or something)

Cons:
-There are too many glitches and it get way too laggy which makes it unplayable.
-I would recommend that you get this game on a sale because with all these glitches, its just not worth the price.

I love that they have updated the map making as you now have SO MANY features and stuff to place instead of the normal blocks. This has made it so fun to make maps and play player-made maps now. The addition of these new tools has brought so much more creativity to be made throughout the community. I don't want to sound greedy but i wish they added more things that are just for looks like trees or bushes like in the official maps.

However, the bugs, as far as I know, have not been fixed and still make multiplayer unplayable and really annoying. So if you are looking to play multiplayer, just play with your friends because you can barely play when its on actual public servers (or whatever its called). Playing with your friends on a private server is really fun because there are less bugs and a lot less lag and especially with the new features on the player made maps you can have a lot of fun on the maps you made or your friends made or even workshop maps which can be amazing now because of the customizability.

The new winter maps are really cool with the new presents and are a great idea but I hate the one map with the giant falling platforms because you can barely do anything before there's no land left.

I now recommend this game to everybody because of the new updates with the map making, however, these glitches on multiplayer SERIOUSLY need to be fixed. Please developers make the bug fixing your #1 priority because i seriously do not care how good the new features are with all those bugs that make the game unplayable. Anyway, I hope this review convinces you to play this game, but, if you do get it, then just tell your friends to get it as well and play with you because playing online with random people just has too many bugs and a lot of lag. This game is fun and a can sometimes be a challenge. This game is awesome.
