Dragon's Dogma 2 is an amazing sandbox open-world Action RPG with one of the funnest combat system of this genre.

Everything about the combat system seems flawless, for instance all the monsters in this game have incredible pixel perfect hit-boxes and hurt-boxes that I now hold as the gold standard for all future Action RPGs. In addition to this, due to how well crafted the combat system is designed, every monster encounter can be approached creatively however the player desires.

Against a Cyclops monster for example, if you're an Archer you can stand far back in battle and aim for its eye weak spot to blind it. If that's not your playstyle and want to get up close, you can get a bit more aggressive and climb up the Cyclops to repeatedly stab its eye with your arrow like a dagger. If you want to use some of your weapon skills like Torrent Shot, you can climb further up its head to stand on top of it, where you're well positioned to unload a barrage of point blank rapid fire arrows directly into its head. If you do enough knockback damage to the Cyclops, it will become unbalanced and eventually starts falling back onto one leg, which then gives you an opportunity to physically push the Cyclops to the ground and stun it.

Dragon's Dogma 2 has 10 well-crafted unique vocations / classes that absolutely nails the sense of class fantasy, with all of them playing entirely differently from one another. In addition to this, you can have 3 AI controlled party members / pawns with their own vocations, equipment, skills and augments to assist you in battle. You can fight the same Cyclops with a team of 4 Warriors wielding massive Greatswords, or perhaps a well balanced team with one healer, one tank, and two DPS vocations. The combat system in Dragon's Dogma 2 is so well designed that any party composition the player choose is more than viable for any monster encounter in the game.

Moreover, all these monster encounters takes place in a lore rich open-world that looks absolutely phenomenal. From the lush green lands of Vermund, to the rocky deserts of Battahl, the most memorable aspect of Dragon's Dogma 2 is just purely exploring these distinctive areas with your party members for all those fun boss encounters, hidden dungeons and shrines, all while ignoring the main story quests.

7/10
