I started this game on hard difficulty and ohhh boy did I struggle. I started without hard pogo, but the controls were still a hassle to get down. Again and again I found myself dying... but I got better. I started to get farther on each level and the satisfaction of beating a boss after so many failed attempts is unmatched. Eventually, I beat the game. Afterwards I decided to play on Medium difficulty in order to get an achievement and it was a complete breeze. Now I'm planning on playing an extreme difficulty run, where lives are very limited and you have to complete it in one sitting. Wish me luck!

In short, get this game. It's cheap and features amazing and challenging level design, as well as stellar voice acting and extras from the show, should you be a fan.

Ah, Europa Universalis IV, the cash cow of Paradox. I can always count on EU4 to provide me with a reliably interesting playthrough, yet compared to games like Victoria 2 and Crusader Kings 2, EU4 is wanting in complex and engaging mechanics. In short, this is the quintessential map painter. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing. EU4 knows what it is and embraces it, refining the experience to be seamless. Perhaps the only issue I can raise is the DLC policy. Many essential mechanics were and still are locked behind DLC. While you do get a lot of value for the DLC you buy in terms of play time, the idea of locking essential mechanics behind DLC just leaves a sour taste in my mouth (though the fact I enjoy Vicky 2 so much is ironic in that regard). In addition, recent statements from Paradox reveal that the developers plan to limit the amount of nations added by mods. This KILLS many amazing mods for the game and I hope they do not implement these changes because if they do, it will both diminish the fan made content for the game and hurt them as a company through a lost player base. In sum, this is a good if simple game, but the company’s greed knows no bounds...

As someone who just completed a campaign as Carthage, I wholeheartedly recommend this game. As frequently (and quite needlessly) stated, this game was a crapshoot at launch. But Paradox has somewhat redeemed themselves by listening to the community and axing the terrible mana system and creating mechanics more grounded in reality. Now, this game is still not up to the “Paradox Standard”, but it is still very fun, and I believe that the next two updates will drastically improve the game by bringing in a new culture system, new war mechanics, a revisit to the Diadochi and much more (seriously, read the dev diaries). As of now it is a welcome break between Victoria 2 and Crusader Kings 2, and at $20 I believe you will be getting a great value.

Victoria 2 is perhaps the greatest of all Paradox games, though whether it is the best is up for debate. It has taken up the extraordinarily difficult task of simulating an entire global market which, while flawed, is believable enough to make for engaging and captivating gameplay. The endless possibilities of the nations you play will keep you coming back for more, whether it be to achieve continental hegemony as the Austrians, or to rule the waves as Britannia. However, it's age does indeed show. This is most prominent in the UI which, while serviceable, is not nearly as user-friendly as newer games such as EU4. If you can tolerate the substantial learning curve, I believe this is an excellent game for any Paradox fan, when accompanied by the essential DLCs. This game is also helped by a dedicated modding community, with mods such as HPM and HFM taking core mechanics and expanding on them, with mods such as Divergences of Darkness totally changing the setting. In short, this game is much fun, and more captivating than many more modern grand strategy games. I do recommend.

This is a very fun game with good controls and gameplay that hasn't gotten boring yet. Would definitely recommend.

This game, even if it is put in a bad light due to the fanbase, is a great game. It has great mechanics and a very good replayability due to the different routes the story can take. I give this game a 7/4
