1000xRESIST became one of my favorite games and sci-fi stories of all time. I couldn't close out of it. Every time I feared it would end, there was another twist. When I finally wanted this heart-rending story to end, it did so outstandingly. The soundtrack is phenomenal at mood-setting, and the script is poetry, weaving a kaleidoscopic tapestry of elements that rhyme time and again, resonating louder and louder to meet its final crescendo.

I should note the negatives since this is a review, but these should not stop you from purchasing and playing this game. While it does a great job of slowly revealing the lore, some gaps remain, both intentional and not. This leads to a lot of interesting food for thought, however. In a few walking segments, I had difficulty figuring out how to proceed. Lastly, I had significant performance issues during most of the cutscenes, which was odd.

I really enjoyed the game mechanic used for traversing scenes of memories. Not only does it create so much tension and open doors for non-linear storytelling shenanigans, but it's used for puzzle-solving, too—if you're blocked off in one time period, traverse to another to bypass it. The art style is also quite interesting, primarily showing characters in stills without much animation. While it probably freed up development resources, I got the feeling it was an artistic choice, and it's used well.

It's really tempting to draw parallels between 1000xRESIST and similar games and inspirations, but it feels like a disservice when this narrative truly shines as an original work of art. When you factor in what it has to say about important contemporary issues, it takes on whole new levels of symbolism, and that kaleidoscope of the human experience just keeps spinning around and around. This experimental game is an unforgettable masterpiece. Hekki grace!

I can't remember the last time I laughed out loud sincerely every 2 minutes. With their endless fountain of good-natured, offbeat and clever humor, the creators of Homestar Runner can somehow make you feel like a kid again over and over, in the best possible way. Today's references still feel like fresh takes instead of pandering. These things held true in the hour I spent with Homestar Runner: Halloween Hide n' Seek. I recommend picking it up.
