the debut title COCOON from newly-formed studio Geometric Interactive is a masterpiece of a puzzle & story experience that builds on the already amazing previous titles LIMBO and INSIDE. Given no explanation whatsoever you are thrust into a strange and colorful alien environment, with nothing but a pair of wings and single button for control. as a tiny "hex-bug" looking creature, you set forth on a journey of strange and beautiful metamorphosis while warping and manipulating galaxies. COCOON, like its predecessors, is a short but memorable experience that starts quietly and ends on a spectacular crescendo. easily one of my favorite indie releases in the past few years

Atomic Heart was a title that I was hoping would fill the void that the BioShock series left after its last release back in 2013, and I can say that while it does deliver on some of the same feelings and aspects of what makes BioShock games so great, overall my feelings are mixed. On one hand the visual aspect and creative direction in the game are superb, the dystopian neo-futuristic Soviet Union is full of unique enemy designs and gorgeous environments. Unfortunately, the combat loop, dialogue, and writing leave a lot to be desired. The dodge mechanics and sprint are clunky and causes movement to feel strange in battle, the hit detection is far from perfect. 'Polymer' is an interesting take on 'Plasmids' in the way that they aid combat through magical and/or elemental means, although I would have liked to see much more variety in the choices of 'Polymer' abilities, there was a real missed opportunity there. The voice actor for the protagonist is super annoying and is constantly spouting out stupid ♥♥♥♥ (crispy critters) and by the halfway point I couldn't take it and found the Russian dialogue much more fitting and immersive. For fans of BioShock, Atomic Heart is a unique adventure with a cool vision, probably worth a purchase on sale, but cannot recommend at full price, corners were cut and it feels too rushed.

a quite short but super atmospheric liminal horror experience, really cool for anyone who is a fan of backrooms-esque environments.

really liked the climbing mechanics and a tremendous sense of scale during the game. there is air of sudden abandonment to your surroundings, but the written records remain, allowing the player to share the intimate thoughts of those that came before you. a short but sweet experience of a game :)

what i enjoyed most about the first entry in the Metro series was the astonishingly beautiful post-apocalyptic environment. The storytelling has triumphant and explosive moments, and keeps you guessing what sort of nightmarish creature is around each corner. This game sets itself apart from other FPS experiences by incorporating small realistic mechanics such as charging up your manual crank-battery night vision and flashlight, as well as keeping track of gas mask and filter quality, which is of vital importance in areas that have a dangerous atmosphere. I enjoyed the combat and the designs of the creatures and especially the winged 'Demons'!

Heavy Rain is a mixed bag. I did enjoy the majority of the story, the voice acting is wide range of decent work to downright monotone, emotionless NPC droning that at times becomes awkward and can quickly break the feeling of immersion. One of the more criticized aspects are the controls, they are at times unresponsive and/or multiple inputs and shifting directional movement prompts that unfortunately do not feel smooth and only serve to slow down interactions and annoy the player. The facial and verbal animations also unfortunately are showing their age and make for some lifeless, expressionless attitudes in all the worst moments of dialogue. I can appreciate the fluidity of the quick-time events and extended scenes with inputs, as they were actually done quite well and I'd say was one of the only shining aspects of the overall gameplay. Most likely won't come back to it but was a compelling story at best!

I really enjoyed the vintage postcard inspired art direction and classic espionage played out through letters and intimate diary-like entries that really gave some cool suspense and room for the imagination to flourish throughout this short-but-sweet experience :) with more content already announced i'm excited to continue the story!

A cute little physics platformer in a bold noir art style with a bleak, creepy atmosphere. It builds on the concepts and gameplay feel that would eventually become 'INSIDE', the following title from Swedish Studio 'Playdead.' Enjoyed this short journey!

BioShock Infinite is the third and final entry in the classic yet ground-breaking FPS trilogy 'Bioshock' and is a massive and incredibly ambitious step-up creatively from the previous two entries in the series and, from what i understand, was a massive technical undertaking for Illusion Studios at the time. While being completely opposite to the dark, dreary hellscape that was Rapture, Columbia is an utterly gorgeous, utopian steampunk paradise. I could spend hours just walking the streets of Columbia just to appreciate the beautiful neo-colonial aesthetic running on steampunk architecture floating thousands of feet in the sky; it's truly one of the best settings I have experienced in any game in recent memory. I really liked the designs of the wonderous tonics of Columbia known as 'Vigors' in the game. They are similar enough to the 'Plasmids' from Rapture, but are drank by the user instead of injected directly into the bloodstream. Effects range from the ability to conjure fireballs, lift heavy loads, befriend machinery, harness water, and other supernatural capabilities as well as my personal favorite 'Shock Jockey'. The gunplay is thrilling and tense, with all manner of automatic, double barrel, and sharpshooting firepower at Booker Dewitts disposal along with great, visceral melee executions using your trusty Sky-Hook that doubles as a deadly weapon in close quarters and thrilling high-velocity skyrail transportation around Columbia. Elizabeth is a charming and iconic sidekick and is always there to patch you up when you fall, as well as carrying the burden of the ability to harness 'tears' in space/time making her a necessary and tragic case as you come to learn more about yourself and your real purpose in Columbia. BioShock Infinite is a masterpiece in its innovations in gameplay and storytelling, that pushed the entire first-person shooter genre forward into what it is today and is my absolute favorite game in the 'BioShock' trilogy aswell as being one of the best first-person shooters of all time.

An absolutely essential platformer, Crash Bandicoot always caught my interest but I had never actually ever completed the original trilogy, so I was excited to see this released on Steam. the 'N-Sane' trilogy is everything retro platforming veterans remember and love, while the fresh remastered look is equally intriguing to first-time buyers of Crash Bandicoot aswell!
