ABOUT Western Interior Seaway

A casual PVE tribe for ARK: Survival Evolved

Based around the picturesque shallow bay southwest of the Island, northwest of the red (previously green) obelisk, we aim to build a friendly and casual PVE community perfect for players who enjoy playing at their own pace, but would still like a tribe to hang out with at times.

We look for like-minded players who want to settle down and have fun building in the bay area. There is no requirement on time dedication, experience or gaming gear. Check our forum stickies for information on our background, rules and server!

RECENT ANNOUNCEMENTS
Seaway Standard Issue 4, Snow Spotlight!
Policy change in response to server development
  • Sanity's base east of the channel, since he's with Mayhem now. The materials contributed greatly to finishing the Seaway Lighthouse.
  • PB's old thatch base south of that. Presumably it was used before joining the tribe.
  • The wooden watchtower and tool shack on the NW shore of the bay, just south of Jenayla's place.
  • The unidentified thatch house and fence up the cliff from Jenayla's place.
  • The snow area shack on the west shore.

2. Sites still to be demolished include:
  • The rock-top platform north of the swamp. That's my work and I'll do it myself. I decided to keep that place for now and finish it, after taming a pair of high level spino nearby :3 It's good to have a place to stay, and allows us access to the swamp easier than from the volcano base.
  • The clifftop gated area between Supa and Music's place, originally occupied by the Mayhem team. Anyone who feels like it could go ahead, especially considering the recent material tweaks to the behemoth gates would leave a lot of rocks upon demolishing to use in other projects!
  • There's bound to be other sites that I'm not aware of. If you feel you will no longer be using certain constructions you've built earlier, please demolish them yourself.

3. Recounting our assets. With recent developments we already have access to a variety of environments, and should no longer need new major bases. This is still in line with our initial tribe policy of having your own base near the bay area, while keeping communal outposts inland.

  • Main base area: Constructed at the Arch by me, PB, and the three friends currently in Mayhem. I'm quite proud of the library, and the fabricator is open for our use. There are two other personal base complexes to the east and southeast, but the admins don't seem bothered. I guess these developments are just close together enough to be considered a major base complex.
  • West shore: Music's base is set up for breeding. Supa's base also looks like just an extension of the main area.
  • The Rock and the northern cliff: Currently consisting of the Hollywood style WISE sign (explicitly permitted by the admins), the taming cage, and the outpost on the Rock. The planned aquatic animal enclosure at the Rock never took off, since the channel is too shallow for the largest marine animals. I'll move the taming cage to near the WISE sign, just to free some space for other people who want to settle in the bay.
  • The Seaway Lighthouse: Finally in action at the southern tip of the peninsula, it does have a public section to express our goodwill to travellers passing the bay, so please don't store your stuff in there.
  • Volcano mining base: Built on the edge of the crater on the NE side, it includes a series of forges and a parachuting platform. It is easily supplied by our pair of quetzals, which can carry mining ankylosaurs. It is also within flying distance from the swamp as well, contributing to my decision to demolish the outpost north of the swamp.
  • Snow base: I've been building this lately on the northern shore, near the eastern snow boundary. It will have a dock, a land animal enclosure, and the house will have air conditioning coming from under the floor! It gives us access to snow area animals, while plesiosaurs and mosasaurs haunt the icy waters. It'll be enough for our snow adventure needs, and I ask other members not to build more snow bases.
  • Rafts: WIS Hammerhead with her set of modern technology, has been invaluable in taming my plesiosaur and mosasaur. With those mighty animals at hand, the unfinished WIS Pelican, designed to serve as a mobile ichy enclosure, seems obsolete and I might have to redesign the ship. Has anyone else got some nice ships?
  • Saddle platforms: We have plenty of paracers and brontos, and have the levels to make their platforms, although my only paracer platform was built by tower before he left and I haven't learned the engram yet. Quetzal platforms are hard to level for, but I'm sure tower would be willing to build them if we get materials. We are also well-eqipped to tame plesios and mosasaurs, although we can't build platforms yet. Other people seem occupied with quetzal platforms, so if we want sea platforms we'd better have someone learn them (likely me). They are of limited use currently anyway, but I look forward to the devs implementing underwater dry bases.

4. I have stopped actively recruiting myself a while earlier. While friends of existing members are still welcome, I would prefer that they use the recruiter's base as the main home.

5. Not really related, but just a reminder. Since the Fear Evolved event is ongoing, watch for the Dodorex! I'm not sure if the devs decide to spawn it on beaches like dodos do and like hinted in the dossier, but if that is the case then our bases could be in trouble. At least the library should be safe...

That's it for now. I do feel lucky to come across such a popular and friendly server with interactive admins, so let's respect their rules and have fun together. Happy Halloween!

Hey guys!

Just want to say thanks so much for being so supportive to me as a newbie xD. You guys made the game 1000x more fun!!! Sorry I haven't been online much - been super busy with school and whatnot D;... just to give a heads up I might not be online much in the coming weeks - if you need space for new members, I totally understand if ya gotta boot me. Anyways, thank you all SO MUCH - you're all so supportive as a tribe, and a GREAT community!!

I'll miss ya (and hopefully I'll find time after December to join you all once again!).

Sharron.

See if anyone can see the announcement here:
The indoor animal storage extension at the snow base is now functional. There is no behemoth gate, and the ground access ramp hasn't been built yet. So anyone vising is recommended to bring an argent, in case mine isn't around. I'll eventually get one to keep inside the snow base at all times.

And we still haven't been able to find the stuff :P

I certainly do hope it's a misunderstanding or bug, but everyone please be careful.
