I haven't visited with the battalion for some time but I do want to wish happy holidays to everyone. I hope that you are all doing OK while looking forward towards next year.

Personally I turned 71 years old this year and I might as well aim for 72 or more. I haven't been in the trenches for a long time and I will have to review simple things like how to crouch and how to sprint, but I do intend to participate a little bit in this year's Christmas Truce.


I will not set up organized Truce events this season but if anyone wants to maybe try football or snowballs or just a walk around the Christmas Map I should be there on the EU server today December 24 for about an hour starting about 2pm Chicago time or 8pm London time. I should should also be there on the US server tomorrow December 25 for about an hour starting about 2pm Chicago time or 8pm London time.

Hello again battalion.

I see that a good number of our group are trying their mountain boots and canteens and flare guns while trying not to get lost in the rugged terrain of Isonzo. I personally do not yet own Isonzo but I know a number of our other officers and a more than large platoon number of Verdun x64 members have already played some games in the Italian Alps.

Verdun x64 from the beginning has required the help of many to grow to the size it achieved. The group has also always been open to try new and different events by a variety of our officers and moderators. This should still be the case with Isonzo.

Officers and Moderators of Verdun x64:

Feel free to make announcements at Verdun x64 if you want to plan Isonzo events. I know from experience that our battalion has been most active on Friday and Saturday evenings local server times. Perhaps Friday and Saturday evenings could be the best opportunities for some of our old comrades to play Isonzo together. It really is your call, not mine.

As for me, I am still kicking at age 70 but I haven't picked up any weapon in any game for some time. Does anybody know if one can customize a character in Isonzo to look as old as me? Can such a character earn victory points sitting in a chair at headquaters? Ha.

I know that the last two years have been trying for many of you since the covid pandemic has affected almost all of us in one way or another. In a sense it might resemble what the Great War generation must have gone through during their own flu pandemic. It is difficult for me to say the right words of consolation for those of you who have lost loved ones and I know from PMs to me that some of our battalion Groupx64 are now missing family and friends, but I am sincerely sorry and I hope that you have better days ahead.

I do invite all of you to participate in the Verdun Christmas Truce again this year. I do not expect to set up organized events like we have done in the past but if you run across me and others on the Truce Map I might improvise something like a footrace or a football game. I probably will try to be on the Truce Map around 2PM US Central Time on both Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day if some of you want to join me (probably on EU server).

Remember when we could set up the Christmas Map in a private event and have Group x64 Christmas which could go on for about a whole hour because of footrace, snowball fight, football, barbed wire jumping contest, and tree climbing contest? It was good times.

I hope all of you in Verdun x64 are doing OK. This has been a trying time for many of us with the world-wide covid crisis and I know some of our members have lost loved ones. I want them to know that we all share sorrow for their losses.

I added a note at the general discussions on a thread about perhaps having a christmas truce again this season. Here is what I said:

"i might try to round up the troops from group Verdun x64 for the christmas truce. we are old and wounded veterans of the great war but maybe we can send some postcards at the post office, throw some snowballs, or do other things that don't require fighting skill. we used to have two good football teams but they might be difficult to muster in our weakened old age. maybe the developers can again have it possible to plant trees on the truce map as those trees will survive us."

Group Verdun x64 has always welcomed everyone regardless of skill level and this will apply for this year's x64 christmas truce. Do not worry that the great war has wounded you. Hard to throw snowballs with your prosthetic arm? No problem with us. Difficult to do the footrace with your crutches? You are welcome to crutch along. Hard to score goals in football while blind? If you kick the ball off the pitch we will try to find it anyway.

On a more serious note, I do want to wish everyone a good and healthy holiday season and year(s) ahead. May good fortune happen.

It's been a while since something happen in this group. How are you all been doing? Hope you and your family are doing well during these times.

So I'm thinking of hosting some matches, 32 players, probably Verdun, since I never tried to host or don't know if Tannenberg have the option to host.

So my question is:
If I host in Saturday and/or Sunday some weekend, around or at 2PM EST, would you guys join?

I would love to host as Friday 8PM EST again but I have work to do so sorry I can't. Right now weekend is the option right now.
