Im betting alot of game companies will take Notch's lead and change their terms of service so that the videos are still aloud. Videos of gameplay on Youtube are a valuable source of advertisement for their games, and I doubt they would just let that free advertisement be taken away.

Dude... it would suck ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ balls if this bill actually passes... I mean come on.. BANNING REPLAYS, BANNING MUSIC, BANNING LETS PLAYS... You would be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the entire gaming community by doing that.... Whats the point of playing a game professionally if NOONE BESIDES YOU EVER SEES IT!!!! They're would be no recorded tournaments for games. Music would be basicly dead after a certon period... Millions would stop listening to the bands they grew up with... and wouldnt this also effect public radio? Its crazy. If it passes. I say ♥♥♥♥ the internet. Im going with a few of my friends to preasadents house to speak our minds.

I did a little reading and this bill was written by the only senator close to beign as stupid as Barbara Boxer, Amy Klobuchar of Minn. She's trying to suck up to some lobbyist. The bill has a low chance of passage. the summary fo the bill provided by opencongress.org sttes that the bill is the folowing:

Makes unauthorized web streaming of copyrighted content a felony with a possible penalty of up to 5 years in prison. Illegal streaming of copyrighted content is defined in the bill as an offense that "consists of 10 or more public performances by electronic means, during any 180-day period, of 1 or more copyrighted works" and has a total economic value, either to the copyright holder or the infringer, of at least $2,500.

the supportes of the bill is the movie industry.

I doubt it would pass especially since video games were just listed as an art form by the Supreme Court. Not to mention one of the biggest groups RoosterTeeth, who does Red vs Blue, has the full support of Bungie and 343 Industries. 343 is owned by Microsoft and earns a lot of new customers through RT so they'd probably fight it.

It wont pass and even if it does they wont be able to enforce it. All sites like machinima would have to do is change there written purpose to a general video game site and claim they arent responsible for the videos posted by users. This would mean that anyone who wanted to sue would have to go after each user individually. This would make it both too expense and impossible to prosecute all users who post videos that have gameplay in them.
