Hello Everyone,

It"s been a long time since this group has seen any action. And not for a lack of progression. Gaming on a mac has progressed in leaps and bounds since the groups original creation date. But over the years the members have also progressed with their lives. While a few of the admins are still avid gamers; most of us have broaden"d our vision and ended up spending a lot of time on consoles or even making the switch to PC. While there is nothing wrong with this. A gamer is always a gamer and cool in my books. The group seems to have suffered.

Our valiant leader (Dr.Atomic) crashed his computer ages ago and has been playing consoles ever since. But I have asked him to give me full admin access so this group can be brought back to life. Therefore I would like to purpose that anyone interested in helping with the group message me with your ideas.

In the future I would like to have a full time group of admins that can curate steam games, post new and interesting news, keep the message board flowing, and maybe even host a community play event or two. For now I have just this post while I rally what admins are left here to come up with a plan. I would also like to ask that if anyone has any graphical skills on a puter and would be interested in making us a more customized logo please get a hold of me. I would like to make our page more professional and maybe one day this group can even have a detached page from the Steam realm.

Just a heads up to anyone who was thinking or did order themselves a Steam Link or Steam Controller apparently there are some issue and they just aren"t ready for mac yet.

But if you ordered one you are entitled to a refund and as an apology Valve is giving away there for library to users that are affected. According to a post on @Polygon You will not just receive every current Valve game but also all future ones too. Thats pretty cool. Assuming Valve ever make another game of value again that doesn"t just run on a F2P model.

So, this group is a little inactive. It"d be nice for some activity to take place. What better way than to play some games! I will be hosting a TF2 server this Saturday on 1/10/15 at 5 pm central time. I will be on somewhere around 5 or later around 8. Anyone and everyone are welcome.

Please continure to post in the discussions and talk in the group chat. We should come together and be an actual community.

EDIT: Sorry everyone! I had to change the time due to some complications. I have some important work to do on Saturday morning and afternoon, so the server will be later at night. I will open the server at 5pm however.

Valve have released an update to the Source SDK, bringing support for Mac OSX and Linux to mod developers and exposing the ability for virtual reality support in your mod. The biggest change with this update is that we are using github to host the source code. You will find the code Here[github.com].

This Source SDK 2013 release also includes a new license that can be found Here[github.com]. This new license allows mod authors to share their changes to the SDK more easily.

The other change with the Source SDK is that now Hammer and the other mod tools ship with their respective games instead of as part of the SDK Launcher. The launcher itself is being phased out, so it will disappear from your Tools list. You can find information about how to run the tools from the games Here.

The source for this new SDK release includes the latest code for all the included games, and has many new features:

• The games now build and run clients on Windows, OSX, and Linux. Dedicated servers are supported on Windows and Linux.
  
• Steam Pipe (the new Steam content delivery system) is supported by the sample mods. Existing mods can change their gameinfo.txt to match the new format and gain Steam Pipe support.
  
• Support for Virtual Reality via the Oculus Rift has been added to the SDK. Running a compatible mod with -vr on the command line will run the mod in stereo and enable head tracking on the Rift.

Hey everyone just a quick update. After a little disscussion with Dr.Atomic about the new steam trading card system we descided to start a thread for all of us to trade our doubles and loot away. I don"t know about you guys but my friends list is fairly small and its hard to find people who want to trade or have stuff that I don"t. So lets all come together and help each other out.
