Top-down action-based titles without controller support just feel...lacking. Hoping it will be a feature here! :)

I had improved my weapon with several mods & after a number of hours of playing, decided to quit. I did not die or feint as the game calls it, I just exited the game. When I started playing again all of the items including my heavilly modded weapon were no longer existing in my personal inventory. This needs to be fixed. Since there is no tutorial & you have to try & figure out how to play, things like this makes me want to give up on the game. What is the save for? It doesn't appear to be doing anyt...
