I can definitely recommend Assassin's Creed Odyssey, as it's one of my favorite AC games, and one of the most beautiful open worlds I've ever seen, if not the most beautiful.

You play as a mercenary and you can choose between Alexios (male) and Kassandra (female). You start out doing quests locally and build your way up from there while the main plot develops as well. But holy hell does this game look beautiful. The environment looks detailed and colorful, the weapons and armors look stunning, and the architecture is extraordinary. The art direction is on point and it it feels great running around the beautiful nature and cities in ancient Greece.

Okay enough about the looks of this game, now about the gameplay. It feels very smooth and fun to play. You can build your character with perks however you like it. You got the Warrior, Hunter and Assassin skill trees, so you can mix and match and really choose how you want to play. Not only that, but you also got access to some active skills, from really cool looking assassinations ones, to the iconic Sparta kick where you can kick enemies off cliffs. It's just really fun to use them and makes the combat feel fresh for the first part of the game.

The story is quite okay, but I especially liked that they added choices in this one. This can change the outcome of the game and some sidequests. The sidequests themselves are also mostly fun to do, ranging from more serious ones to some really goofy ones, but it's a nice change of pace and the game doesn't always takes itself too seriously. There are even some minor romance options in the game as well.

The game does has its issues too though. The combat can feel a bit light or unbalanced sometimes, you have to switch gear often thanks to its leveled stats, The writing in the story and sidequests isn't always the best and dialogue can feel off, with something weird or bad voice acting (mostly from sidequests). The game has a lot of bloat and with such a big map traversal can feel like a slog. And overall, the game and its combat can become repetitive after a while.

All in all, AC: Odyssey is a great open world RPG, with only a couple flaws, and I can definitely recommend it when the game is on sale, since it's extra cheap then. The DLCs were quite fun as well, they're not as great as the main game, but since the Gold Edition costs a little extra while it's on sale I say it's definitely worth it then. You'll have enough hours to fight people as a Spartan, explore the world on foot, or by ship while your crew sings some songs before going into some naval combat. And once again, ancient Greece is just really stunning.

One of the best Assassins Creed games in recent times.
