Hello. Could someone please tell me how I group squadrons into a fleet?

how do you add goods to an auto trade route that are not produced in the city? example: i produce sugar in city 1, ship sugar to city 2 (non sugar producing city), ship sugar and other goods from city 2 back to home port. when i try and add sugar in the trade route it does not show up in the goods list....

I do not understand how to use the warehouse and trading routes, I know how to set up the trading routes, but what does the auto trade have to do with them. The tutorial teaches you very little about how to use these together. Can someone please tell me how a warehouse is used and how it works with auto trade routes?...
