Hi =CBR=. I have heard and seen this issue on a few occations, but unfortunately never found a good fix.
While researching for potential causes, the most plausible theory I found is that there's a chance the latest controller drivers *sometimes* doesn't read well with Klang's engine (The so called "anniversary" drivers apparently caused problems). It's beyond my control, but I would try to uninstall the xbox controller driver and install an older one manually.
If that doesn't work I would try with a different controller. Whenever a 360 xbox controller doesn't work, an Xbox One or PS4 controller tend to for some reason...
A last ditch effort would be using software that lets you convert gamepad controls to fake keyboard presses. Not recommended but the game does have keyboard controls that should be easy to map.
