Unfortunately the vast majority of Mahjong games are made in Japan for a Japanese audience. Years ago there was an X-Play special where Adam Sesler was in a video game store in Japan. He started pulling Mahjong game after Mahjong game off the shelf, each one different from the rest.

Fascinating. I'm aware that what's acceptable in Japan is different than for us. I also know that we lack an online client that isn't gambling focused. Mahjong is a hard game and very rewarding. I think the audience would be greater if the content wasn't what it is.

Jan-Ryu-Mon was a great online client if you could make it through the japanese account process... sadly playNC got greedy with it and now it's all but dead.

Out of curiosity what's your objection to the Tenhou client? I remember it being quite popular and functional even if had a time actually enjoying it.

If they just added online multiplayer to this it would be fine although I imagine hte player base would be slim.

Yes there's nothing at all wrong with being an ephebophile, well apart from the legalities of it in many countries. There's nothing at all wrong with the marketing of this game either, I mean it's just a bunch of school girls who are unable do to anything other than play mahjong due to enormous strain on their backs from disproportionate breasts...Does the game come with a free box of tissues?

There are other options to play mahjong on Steam, none of them multiplayer (that I can find). I haven't played mahjong since I was a school girl, er I mean a child, and cannot remember the version I played, nor if any of these versions contain the Ricchi ruleset.

There are some good options for riichi mahjong that I enjoy, I had hoped this title would be better but it doesn't seem very good to me.

中学校 chūgakkō (junior high school / lower secondary school) ages 12-15 is unlikely

高等学校 kōtōgakkō (high school / upper secondary school) ages 15-18 is most likely, given the title and appearance of the art, hence I mentioned "ephebophiles" rather than "hebephiles".
