Winning hands not being given the button to Ron or Tsumo

So more than once, I have come up with a winning hand and the button to win or Ron was not provided. several times on a naked wait (1 tile left in hand) or where I have several Pung / Chow / kongs off to the side. When this happens, the game will recognize the Sacred Discard (discarded tile could have assisted in the winning hand) but will force me into the discard vs letting me take the hand. Is there some rule I'm not recognizing?

Most likely no yaku. Do you know the rules of Japanese mahjong?

I'm learning them, still a novice in the grand scheme of things. All I have a dummy's guide and a set of Tiles... but no one to really learn with or from.

Wow that Barticle's guide is astonishing, especially the optional yaku page which I might use to implement even more yaku into our Upper Silesian League. Thank you very much.

But I do not recomend that to the beginers since it consists way to many pages which might scare people off the mahjong. It is extremaly good for intermediate and up though.
