I don't know how to "win a life"

Was curious about the game due to the sale, but (unless I'm misunderstanding) it seems like there were no updates after the release, it's in EA for half a year longer than originally planned (even though the potentially longer time was mentioned, to be fair), and a new one from the same developer is set to release in february. Many Early Access titles don't get finished, so, If possible, I'd appreciate some information about whether/when to expect any updates =) Thank you!...

Will there be Steam Achievements in the game for the January 2022 launch? (Right now it does not have any.)

Is there a demo planned? I'm on the fence whether I would like this game or not, so need a demo to decide.
