In my first hour of playing it, I like a lot of things. The one thing I don't like is the research set up. It doesn't make sense. I "research" how to build a shelter while I'm wandering around scavenging for food and materials. After a certain number of hours, I suddenly know how to build a shelter. Ditto for figuring out how to make a spear, a bed of leaves, etc.
I can appreciate the strategy in deciding what to research first, but I really feel that I should spend that time actually researching so the question is how much time to spend researching versus scavenging.

Quite good. More complexity than initial face value.
