This game is a deck-builder rouge-like game. First couple dozens of hours are wonderful. For long-time playing its not among the best games I've played.
Its just seems that you have many build choices, and it is true that all works fine. You can push, throw, stun, taunt, then you will see foes immune to push or throw, making pure pushing or throwing build totally pointless. Later mechanisms will make you feel moving cards are burdens, only attack cards with move effect are good.
The wrestling mechanism is a disaster, you cannot use normal attacks on any foes lying on the ground, and you EVEN CANNOT THROW FOES TO A LYING FOE. A lying foe is almost an invisible wall when playing, standing on a lying foe will give the standing one just 5 dmg, 0 dmg to the lying foe, and kept them lying. This is not really a big deal because there are foes simply immune to throwing.
Besides, I understand there are foes you cannot push/throw, only when the foe is heavy enough and moves slowly, not just following you every time you move.
DLC is a huge disaster, just added 3 elites and a boss which are just piles of immunity and buffs. To me, this is just admitting push&throw design is a total failure, and the last levels just want to test a deck have enough stun/ ranged dps.

One of the better deckbuilder roguelikes - very satisfying combat and stylish with it too.

Fights in Tight Spaces is a strategic, deckbuilding, roguelite brawler. That's a mouthful! Try saying THAT fast ten times.

Each turn, you draw cards that you can use to attack your enemies, defend yourself from them, and move around the board. It's quite nice that you can push and throw your enemies around, and even your strikes will push them and move you forward or backward. There's just a lot of variety in the kinds of attacks you can do, and so there are a handful of movesets to choose from before you start a run. You could also draft your own deck if you so choose.

There are five stages filled with several levels, and like every other roguelite, you can choose which paths to go on depending on how you want to build your fighter. You can increase your health and heal your injuries at medical facilities, learn new moves, upgrade existing moves, or even discard some moves at the gym, and each battle arena you choose from comes with its own variety of rewards. This ranges from currency to spend at the aforementioned medical facility or gym, free health healing if you can protect a high value target, and you can even increase your maximum capacity to play more cards and build up combos if you reach a certain criteria in the fight.

I can geek out forever just describing plainly how the game is played, but I'll just say it's solid through and through. The only gripe I have is that some runs can drag on a bit because the last couple stages' amount of missions are a little too much. They could have benefited from being trimmed down by even just 1/4 the amount. Roguelites are supposed to short and fun experiences, and despite of how engaging the core gameplay is, having to play a full run from start to finish could take up to 1h30m to 2 full hours.

Maybe better players can do it quicker, but I've yet to do less than maybe 1h20m, but that was on a failed run. You could even start the campaign in a later stage, but the big drawback is that you won't have as many upgrades as you would if you start from the very first stage.

All in all, though, super solid game with catchy music and very punchy sound design. Every hit and slam literally packs a punch. Pardon the double punch pun, but that's just how powerful the game's animation and sound design are put together. If it weren't for the strenuous length of the campaign, this would be perfect. Along with being able to choose my own angles or even customize my own camera movements for the Post Fight Replay option. Yeah you can watch your fights happen in real(ish) time with the Replay, but sometimes the camera is placed too far or behind an obstruction and it really ruins the action.

But yeah I tend to babble in these reviews, and I'm hyperaware of that, and I really do try my best to keep it concise. But if I really really love a game, honestly, I just can't help it! I've always a got ton to say! And for Fights in Tight Spaces, let this lengthy and detailed review be my ringing endorsement for it!

Pretty fun, but also challenging in a good way, classic plus is my personal favourite difficulty. Very similar to Into The Breach.
