Squid vs. Octopus[1] was a collaboration Splatfest event in Splatoon. It was held for Japan only. It was announced on 1 October 2015. The results were given on 11 October 2015.
Details
Unlike Squid vs. Octopus (2018), which was about the sea creatures, this Splatfest specifically pits the types of sushi against each other, in cooperation with the Kura Sushi restaurant chain.
The three stages selected for this Splatfest were Port Mackerel, Bluefin Depot, and Hammerhead Bridge.

Trivia
- A Splatfest sharing the same name which pitted the evolutionary ancestors of Inklings and Octarians rather than the seafoods against each other would be held in Splatoon 2.
- The change in battle multiplier to x6 in version 2.2.0 would have changed the outcome of the Squid vs. Octopus Splatfest.
- The two characters featured on the Splatfest banner and artwork belong to the trading card game and webcomic Kaiten Mutenmaru, made by Kura Sushi. Their names are メル・スー (Mel Sue) and ロリータコ (Lolitako).[2]
