Emote
Emotes are animations performed by the player when winning a battle or clearing a Salmon Run shift in Splatoon 3. Most of them are obtained through the catalog at Hotlantis. Emotes from previous seasons can be obtained at the Shell-Out Machine, or a decorated Mystery Box.
List of emotes
Emotes are mostly unlocked by leveling up a catalog, which features six emotes per season. Once a season is over, the previously catalog-only emotes can be obtained through the Shell-Out Machine.

There are two special emotes performed under certain conditions during a Splatfest:
The first emote, internally named Win TriCol, is performed after a Tricolor Turf War when the attacking teams win: the attacking team who covered the most turf perform their chosen emote, while the other team performs Win TriCol.
The second emote, internally named Win X00A through Win X00D is performed when a team wins a 100x or 333x Battle.

Fist bumps
- Main article: Emote/Fist bump animations
Starting with Sizzle Season 2023[1] , winning players may fist bump each other at the end of a match's results screen if they fulfill certain requirements.
In order to fist bump, two players on the winning team must be positioned beside each other on the results screen, have compatible emotes equipped, and have each been awarded three gold medals.[2] Only two players per team may fist bump. Any fist bumps achieved are not visible to players on the losing team.
Emote fist bump compatibility
Each emote is classed according to its height as upper, middle or lower. In order to fist bump, both eligible players must have compatible emotes equipped; a player equipped with a middle-height emote cannot fist bump a player equipped with an upper-height emote.

Trivia
- Flip Out, Reppin' Inkopolis and The Square Show-Off are the only emotes so far that feature the player's weapon and vary based on its class.
- Reppin' Inkopolis and The Square Show-Off emotes are directly based on victory poses from Splatoon and Splatoon 2, respectively. They appear to have been completely remade instead of being imported from those games.
- The Reppin' Inkopolis in particular are mostly based on Inkling girls' victory poses with some elements from those of the boys.
- Prior to 7.0.0, the Reppin' Inkopolis emote lacked animations for weapon types added after Splatoon (dualies, brellas, stringers, and splatanas) and simply reused the animations from the Flip Out emote instead.
- One of the animations for Inklings and Octolings in Splatsville Square is very similar to the No Chill emote. The biggest difference is in the square, they open their mouth in a sigh, while in the No Chill emote their mouth is closed throughout.
- Using supported Splatoon series amiibo, players can perform The Lowdown, No Chill, Victory Strut, Double-Cross Dab, Card Shark, and, as of version 2.0.0, the Wave 'Em Off and Flip Out emotes by using the "Pose" selection when taking a picture with the amiibo, allowing the player to perform select emotes from previous seasons regardless of whether it is owned.
- The Wave 'Em Off emote can only be used in the Splatsville Square, while the Flip Out emote can only be used in multiplayer stages.
- The special emotes from the 100x and 333x battles animation originate from the poses in the Mission Complete! screen of Alterna.

Translation notes
- ↑ Revierdecks means "Turf Decks", which is the German name for Tableturf Battle
- ↑ The suffix -ito is used to describe a noun that is small. In this case, they added -ito to the word bajo meaning "low".
- ↑ The word кревед kreved comes from a Russian meme phrase Превед, медвед, йа криветко! which is a very corrupted and ungrammatical way of saying "Hello, bear, I'm shrimp!". In this case, the word кревед is a fusion of the words превед preved ("hello") and креветка krevetka ("shrimp").
- ↑ Calm Before the Storm is a reference to the idiom when little activity turns into chaos
- ↑ Used to provoke someone. Can mean the like of "you got something to say?" "you want a piece of me?" "you got a problem with that?"
- ↑ From the expression een gat in de lucht slaan ("to do a foolhardy act") or een gat in de lucht springen ("to be uninhibitedly enthusiastic")
- ↑ Onda is Italian for "wave".
- ↑ The suffix ito is used to describe a noun that is small. In this case, they added -ito to the word baile meaning dance.
- ↑ Verdraaid is a Dutch interjection of amazement and irritation, and the past participle of verdraaien ("to twist")
- ↑ Перст perst is an archaic word for палец palets ("finger").
- ↑ An expression; literally it means "hit of the mill"
- ↑ The suffix -azo is used to describe a noun that is great. In this case, they added -azo to the word molina meaning "mill".
- ↑ Surimi Syndicate is the German name for Deep Cut.
- ↑ Flösschen is a diminutive of Flosse ("fin").
- ↑ Физкульт fizkul't is short for физкультура fizkul'tura ("physical culture"), and физкульт-привет is a traditional way to greet people in a sports environment in Russia.
- ↑ From spelenderwijs ("playfully, through play") and stapsgewijs ("stepwise")
- ↑ The noun mollusco ("mollusc") is treated like a verb in its participle form.
- ↑ From Off the Hook's catchphrase in Dutch, hou je cool, hou je TENTACOOL!
- ↑ A pun with "Tentacool", Off the Hook's French name, and Classe ("classy, cool").
- ↑ Reference to "Tentacool", Off the Hook's italian name.
- ↑ Pun on zus ("sister"); literally: "sister and so".
- ↑ Likely a mistake in translation, as the Squid Sisters' French NOA name is "Sœurs Ventouses" and Off the Hook's is "Tentacool". The French name for Bait the Hook pose do use Off the Hook's name as well.
- ↑ "Sea Sirens" is Squid Sisters' italian name.
- ↑ Кулачки kulachki ("small fists") can also mean "fistbumps"
- ↑ It is the same name given as Burst Bomb in Dutch.
