Party's Over is a cover of the defeat theme by Off the Hook. The instrumentation is based on Ink Another Day, but is slower and has a more "dreary" state. Despite being credited as an Off the Hook song, they do not appear to provide any vocals to the track. It replaced Ink Another Day in Splatfests, playing after the standard defeat jingle. It can also be heard in Squid Beatz 2, with a maximum score of 22 and 30 in Normal and Hard modes, respectively.

During the Past vs. Present vs. Future Splatfest in Splatoon 3, a special Grand Festival variation of Party's Over could be played as the battle defeat theme. It was heard by players on the losing team in a match between two teams on Team Present. After a percussion intro, the distorted guitar riffs and vocals from Party's Over play over a new backing track featuring a new synth melody as well as a bass that is reminiscent of Off the Hook's version of Inkopolis News. The vocals in this version lack the reverb effect present in Party's Over. At the 12-second mark, the percussion briefly plays on its own, after which the song features the melody from Nasty Majesty.

Trivia

  • Ink Another Day is the only song with the same maximum Normal and Hard score in Squid Beatz 2.

Etymology

Ink Another Day might come from the turn of phrase live to fight another day, which describes the idea of continuing onwards after a setback. It might also reference the James Bond movie Die Another Day. Party's Over is a turn of phrase that describes something good coming to an end, but might also reference Splatfests as parties.
