    "One Place for Knowledge "

    Posted 2024-02-20

Pros: As our business continues to grow, getting new employees up to speed as well as communicating changed to existing employees has been a challenge in the past. Our business is constantly changing, be it pricing, operating procedures, vendors, etc. Guru allows us one place for our team to go to find relevant, up to date info that was previously scattered throughout multiple channels, or inside the heads of the owners. With AI functionality in Guru our employees can ask common language questions and find relevant info quickly.

Cons: I wish I would've been using this years ago - its an instrumental part of our business now.

Overall: Guru is helping us scale efficiently. Our employees are empowered to ask questions because they can consistently find answers, allowing them to get up to speed, or skill up faster, and with less all hands meetings to communicate changes.

    "Guru >>> Legacy intranet competitors"

    Posted 2024-02-20

Pros: -Great AI-enabled, tech-driven intranet solution
    -Easy set up
-Integrates seamlessly with Slack, Google Drive, etc
-The Answers feature changes the dynamic of how end-users interact with the application from an intranet website/shared folder to an LLM with a curated knowledge base
-High usability minimizes user training needs and drives adoption without the need for a complex implementation strategy
-Sales lead becomes CSM, so no awkward handoff to a stranger and wasted time re-explaining your use case(s)
-Pricing structure aligns value with cost, increases with user adoption
-Verification functionality keeps the knowledge base accurate in an auditable manner and solves the issue of iteration control
-Updating cards and connecting to files/folders in Drive is very easy

Cons: -Not the cheapest option, has per-seat-per-month pricing
-Bulk import is great, but the formatting doesn't translate well from docx files, requiring time-consuming reformatting
-Ability to track card use, but not at the user level

Overall: If you are a product or technology leader in your company tasked with creating an intranet, definitely consider Guru. Most of the competitors in the space have outdated website-based solutions. Guru is much more. The Answers functionality and integrations with other systems make it easy to set up and implement. The final result is an LLM-enabled tool that provides verified information to employees with a link to the source document for further details. End users appreciate being able to ask questions and getting answers rather than wasting time searching for answers on a website or Drive. The verification functionality solves the iteration control issues found in the other options, making it easy to keep the knowledge base accurate and up-to-date which is especially helpful in rapidly evolving companies.

    "Answers for the Win"

    Posted 2024-02-14

Pros: - Auto archive tool is incredibly useful for temporary changes such as A/B tests our various product teams run
    - Answers gives our support agents the info they need in the most efficient way possible
    - Announcements keep the team updated on our org's regular product enhancements

Cons: It would be great if Answers source documentation had the same update reminders as Guru cards do.

Overall: Guru keeps our team informed, updated and aligned which is crucial for any support team. The product is continuously evolving, so becomes more and more useful every year. We're very excited about making use of many of Guru's AI tools this year.

"One source of truth to inform and connect your teams "

    Posted 2024-02-13

Pros: Gurus genius lies in its reliability - you can trust that the information you’re seeing is accurate and up to date via its various ownership and verification features. It also simplifies your teams workflow by offering up the information folks need where they need it. The collection and tagging features are also smart. I’ve not yet dug into their rapidly growing AI offerings but am excited to do so as I know more time savings are in store.

Cons: Guru was a bit behind in offering enterprise search but have quickly caught up - again, giving all teams the info they need whether native to Guru or housed elsewhere.

Overall: I’ve been a super fan of Guru’s across two companies and countless org changes and evolutions. It’s the only knowledge tool your GTM and Product/Eng teams need to draft, store and search for need-to-know information to inform others and get informed.

"Outstanding job of automatically curating and authoring companywide data, beats the others we've tried."

    Edited 2024-02-09

Pros: We've come to appreciate the polish on these products. Yeah there's the basic and key functionality of linking in all our sources of information and making them searchable - Guru does an excellent job over that sprawling space.

But where things get really smooth and useful are the light touch additions with "AI". There is the expected summarizing of existing info, which is pretty great, but also notably the ability to drill down to the sources of truth easily (in case something looks fishy), AND to request the data be checked by who-ever owns it (a KEY feature in fighting information rot!).

But there is also the slick integration with their authoring tools (BTW this wiki and editor are quite a bit more intuitive than the comparable tools I've tried elsewhere... YMMV I guess). We get help here getting over the hump of starting a new doc with really great smart generated templates, and then help with polishing style etc (I could have used that help with this review... anyway...).

This is the kind of thing that helps our domain experts share their knowledge easily without needing to spend too much time staring at blank pages or writing incomprehensible prose (not all experts are good writers).

What else... oh right, I think my favorite authoring tool, personally, is the ability to create cards (bits of wiki) right from Slack. I'm one of those folks who get questions all day long in there. My goal is now to answer questions ONCE, then add that answer to the pool of knowledge, and (hopefully) not rehash that topic again as folks find it for themselves. Again the ease of authoring is KEY here - else I'd just not bother.

Cons: So far this stack has our needs covered and the company seems very open to feedback so nothing much to talk about here.

Overall: Recommended and compares well above the competition we've tried. The recent sprinkling of AI has been done in a way that makes sense and has leveraged an already sweet-spot product into one that smoothes authoring to "super easy" and parsing multiple sources on a topic into a non-issue (it's all done for you).

    Posted 2024-02-09

Cons: No cons i can think of—Guru is working for our needs right now.

Overall: Guru is a great product and is helping our family business stay sane as we grow. We use it daily to communicate changes and new processes to our staff.

"Connect sources and get answers right away"

    Edited 2024-02-12

Pros: Ability to start right away. I connect OneDrive, SharePoint, and start firing away rather than sifting through my Sharepoint instance.

Cons: It takes a second to make sure you set up the "knowledge sources" correctly, but once it's up and running it's great.

Overall: Guru's customer support team was amazing. It's clear Guru is a leader in Enterprise Search at a much affordable price than alternatives.
