Competency based education (CBE) is a systematic approach of academic instruction based on students demonstrating their mastery of a subject and skills development [IBE UNESCO, 2017]. CBE focuses on what learners are expected to do rather than emphasizing on what they are expected to know [Faustin & Andala, 2019]. It is a learner centred approach that helps students get the opportunity to apply what they have learned to real life problems and make differences in their own lives. Since 2020 #HADDA has been a project that I have been so proud to be a part of. My colleagues (Muna, John, Johnblack, Edgar, Caroline) and I have seen the work of Nomad Innovation Lab , SIDRA Institute and the MoH steer towards improving maternal and child health for Somalis by digitalising the health system that tirelessly serves the needs of people. HADDA has sowed the seeds of something scalable, locally anchored and evidence based which mobilizes international talent and requires long term sustainability and will surely yield results. The lack of government-led projects and development initiatives has left many communities in #Somalia without quality education, perpetuating poverty and limiting youth opportunities. This lack of education, particularly in coastal areas, makes young people more vulnerable to piracy. Our study suggests that enhancing educational access is crucial for empowering individuals and communities to pursue sustainable livelihoods and addressing piracy and economic challenges. #Somalia's justice sector is grappling with numerous challenges, including instability, reliance on short-term projects, capacity deficiencies, fragmentation, and a lack of a clear strategy. Our paper got published with the Journal of Clinical and Translational Sciences, titled: "A schema for coding health equity scholarship within pediatric research" Our team at Seattle Children's Research Institute developed a coding schema to help systematically identify and categorize health equity scholarship in pediatric research. This tool is designed to improve how we track and elevate equity-focused work, ensuring that research reflects the diverse needs of marginalized communities. We hope this tool will help institutions better measure and increase their commitment to reducing pediatric health disparities! 

It is not a small number that 26% of the nomadic people, 9% of the displaced people from the camps, and the community living in the areas controlled by Al-Shabaab have not received any vaccine. This means that almost 40% of the Somali population has not received enough vaccinations.
