Our sustainable livelihoods interventions aim to tackle the root causes of poverty, strengthening the capacity of communities to become self-sufficient and better equipped to meet their children's needs. Recently, we hosted journalists from prominent media outlets on a tour to witness firsthand the positive impact of our work. This week, we will highlight these stories through the lens of the media, starting with how cash transfers are transforming lives in Kailahun District. Stay tuned and enjoy the insights! #SustainableLivelihoods #Communities #Children #CashTransfer #Impact ChildFund International https://lnkd.in/dfDr_uWD

Donor Visit The long-standing partnership between ChildFund Sierra Leone and Tradin Organic has successfully implemented projects such as the Community Action for Combating Child Labor, funded by the Dutch Government and Tradin Organic. This initiative has focused on empowering cocoa farmers, particularly women, to develop sustainable livelihoods. Building on this success, the Agro-Tech Development Support project, funded by the European Union through Tradin, is also supporting local communities. A recent visit by Anitra van der Kraan, Project Coordinator from Tradin Org, and Soizic LEGRAND Indegenous Agro-Economist in Sierra Leone, included a visit to the Kasei Yaata Ma Cooperative in Gbukuma, Kono District. The cooperative, with 40 members (22 women, 18 men), shared positive outcomes such as the establishment of savings groups that have improved financial management and business skills, enabling members to better support their families, among others. Isatu Venn, Programs Director for ChildFund Sierra Leone, expressed gratitude to Tradin Organic and the European Union for their support and the positive impact on children’s lives. Anitra noted, “While Tradin Organic sources cocoa from farmers, the company is intentional about ensuring that those farmers have sustained livelihoods.” #SavingsGroups #Livelihoods #Farmers #Cocoa #Impact ChildFund International ChildFund Alliance ChildFund International - Africa

🌍 Reflecting on the International Day of the Girl Child 🌍 Yesterday, we celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child, a day to amplify the voices of girls around the world and to recognize the power of investing in their futures. But the work doesn’t stop here. Empowering girls means ensuring equal access to education, healthcare, opportunities, and rights—every day of the year. When girls thrive, communities prosper, innovation accelerates, and societies become more inclusive and resilient. Let’s continue to champion a world where girls are leaders, innovators, and change-makers. Their potential is limitless when we break barriers and uplift their voices. 💪 How are you helping to empower the next generation of girls? Let’s keep the conversation going! #DayoftheGirl #EmpowerGirls #GenderEquality #FutureLeaders #Inclusion #EducationForAll

It’s #WorldHumanitarianDay At ChildFund International we connect children with the people, institutions and resources they need to grow up healthy, educated, skilled and safe and we do so for humanity. Our global impact is driven by our #GrowingConnections strategy, which sometimes requires our staff to adjust schedules and go the extra mile to ensure children receive the support they need to thrive, enjoy their rights, and reach their full potential. Haja, 9, is sipping her way into the weekend. Her community in Tonkolili District, Northern Sierra Leone, recently gained access to safe and clean water thanks to a bio-sand filtration system. This was made possible by the Children’s Safe Drinking Water project, funded by Procter & Gamble (P&G). P&G has been funding this project in Sierra Leone since 2019 through ChildFund International. The bio-sand water system in Haja's community is providing over 500 people with access to safe and clean water. "The water in our community was unsafe to drink, but we had no other option. We had to drink it because it was our only water source," said Haja. "Now, the water we drink is clean and tastes different. This is the first time I am getting water from a tap." #Water #Biosand #project #Children
