University Science Park at University of Zilina

We are part of the European EnCLOD project, funded by the Interreg Central Europe programme. 📅 On the 28th and 29th of May a meeting of the EnCLOD consortium took place in Vicenza, Italy.🌍 The project involves 10 partners from 5 countries, including the University of Zilina. The aim of the project is to harness the power of the Internet's open data and sensor networks to address critical urban and social challenges in Central Europe. At the May meeting, each of the participating countries presented its pilot project area. The University of Žilina will lead the project in Žilina to improve road safety. It will include the development of a "Road Safety Prevention Tool". This activity will be implemented in cooperation with the City of Žilina, which is an associated partner of the project. 🚀 In the coming months, our team will face challenging tasks. Already in autumn, a meeting of the EnCLOD partners will take place in Žilina, combined with a study visit. On 14th March 2024, our team from University Science Park, University of Zilina and TRENDLINE project partners from CDV - Transport Research Centre Research Centre convened for a working meeting in Brno. The session was dedicated to evaluating our progress and strategizing future steps to ensure the project aligns with our planned objectives. Key highlights: Unified data collection procedures: We agreed on standardised methods for data collection to enhance the project's monitoring and evaluation efficiency. We emphasised the importance of accurate and reliable data for impactful results. Presentations of Workspaces and Laboratories: Partners showcased their operations and discussed potential collaborations. This exchange of insights and experiences is vital for fostering innovation. Cross-border collaboration: The meeting highlighted the significance of ongoing cross-border collaboration, with a focus on sharing expertise and coordinating efforts to ensure the successful execution of future projects. Project TRENDLINE: KPI Speed 🚀 As part of our commitment to enhancing road safety across Europe, we’re focusing on a key performance indicator (KPI) that’s crucial yet challenging — speed compliance. 🔍 This KPI is part of a comprehensive suite, recognized not just by the European Commission but by 29 EU Member States working collaboratively. Our goal? To meticulously collect and analyze data on the percentage of vehicles adhering to speed limits, all in line with a newly established methodological guideline. 📚 This guideline isn’t just a document; it’s a roadmap. It lays out the criteria and procedures necessary for accurately capturing speeding data, making it an indispensable tool for authorities and organizations dedicated to road safety. Embracing the Future of Road Safety: Insights from the TRENDLINE Project's General Assembly in Prague The TRENDLINE project's General Assembly meeting "MOVE/C2/SUB/2022-54 - Technical Assistance for the development and collection of Road Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)", which took place in Prague on 21-23 February, marked a milestone in European road safety. Among the participants was the team of researchers from the University Science Park of the University of Žilina, who brought their own insights into the development and collection of road safety key performance indicators (KPIs). The event focused on progress reports, financial management and discussions on how to improve safety measures. Future visions and methodological guidelines for safety indicators were explored, setting a new course for road safety innovation. The General Assembly demonstrated the power of collaboration and shared expertise in advancing road safety.
