Assistant Professor at the Urban Futures Studio, Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Utrecht University
We are hiring a new PhD-lecturer! Are you interested in the political dimensions of #sustainability transitions? Do you want to study how meaningfully different ideas about the future can be brought into the political imagination? Or do you know anyone who might be? We are advertising a six-year PhD-lecturer role, in the project: “Imprisoned in the present? Mediatisation Dynamics in Sustainability Transitions”, Urban Futures Studio and the Innovation department of the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Utrecht University. As our Phd-lecturer, you will study how mediatisation dynamics influence and often inhibit sustainability transitions. This project zooms in on difficulty of perceiving, producing, circulating, and governing futures that are meaningfully different from the present. As such, our project investigates the societal structures that produce such myopia: How can meaningfully different ideas about the future be brought into the political imagination? Which are the crucial sites, techniques, and actors? And how might such techniques help to address the resistance against sustainability policies? You find the full text of the vacancy with more information about the project and all specifics for these PhD-positions here, incl. how and when to apply, and where to write in case of any remaining questions: https://lnkd.in/eemJx5-A
