Template:Songs category/doc

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Normal

Songs category

Special

The article name should only be specified if it is different from that in the category name. Per normal categorization rules this should rarely be the case.

The <display name> is only needed if it is different from the article name, for example . Alternatively use the=, for example to provide an unlinked "the" before the band name.

Function

[change source]

Adding the category to a "songs by artist" (e.g., ) category will do the following:

 1. Add the header This category contains songs by John Doe (where John Doe is the part of the category name preceding "songs".
 2. Add the hatnote See also , if such an albums category exists. The "John Doe" in the names of both the albums category and the songs category must be the same for this function to work.
 3. Add as a parent category.
 4. Add as a parent category, if such a category exists. The "John Doe" in the names of both the songs category and the parent category must be the same for this function to work.
