why is it by accident? how does the child know it makes orgasm? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.10.60.64 (talkcontribs)

This works like all rewards. The child does something, and afterwards feels good. Of course, the child wants to repeat the experience to feel good again. --Eptalon 22:24, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Added a few sections

[change source]

I added a few sections from the english language article. These mainly deal with health impacts, frequency and evolutionary concerns. They of course need to be simplified (I started on somep paragraphs). Please note that the article is currently locked for unnamed contiributors, though that will go away soon. --Eptalon 22:27, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Eptalon There are still some parts of the article with the complex tag, though I don't know if that is the sections you added, I will work on simplifying it when I have some time. --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 02:24, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

May I question the appropriateness of the second image? I feel it contributes little value to the article. --98.28.149.80 (talk) 22:32, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I only see one image in this article --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 17:21, 22 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Images...

[change source]

Hello there,

yes, likely this is a sensitive topic, and when we think about illustrations/images we need to think about the following:

*If we are using photos, we need to account for both sexes; so if there's an image of a man masurbating, there should also be one of a woman masturbating

*We should prefer 'artistic images'. The one I had of Klimt is clearly a work of art.

I am not pushing/fobidding any image, but I think the community needs to agree on what images to use. Comments welcome Eptalon (talk) 19:31, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Eptalon, I agree with you on the first point and second. However, there are more modern drawings that could be of use here, such as Male masturbation.svg and Woman masturbating.tif, though I have no objections to the 1913 drawing. Justarandomamerican (tc) 20:44, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are several images, if we want, there are even ones with animation. so, the big question is really: suppose we put 1-2 (perhaps 3) images there, what do we want them to show? How realistic/graphic do we want it to be? Eptalon (talk) 21:38, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think an animation would be a bit excessive: not including an animation of masturbation wouldn't cause the article to be less informative or relevant. We should display files that can illustrate what masturbation is in an encyclopedic manner that are not real photographs or animations. I would say that the replaced drawing and/or the drawings I linked above would be just fine for this purpose, though I prefer for a male image to also be included to depict the subject for both sexes.
