Maria de Lourdes Bettencourt de Castro ComSE (9 December 1930 – 8 January 2022) was a Portuguese artist. She was known for creating shadow puppets for her Shadow Theatre. She helped create the São Paulo Art Biennial.[1][2][3]

Castro died at a hospital in Funchal, Portugal from pneumonia on 8 January 2022, at the age of 91.[4] President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa called her "one of the most [important] Portuguese artists".[5]
