Groot

Groot is a fictional Marvel Comics character created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby. He first appeared in Tales to Astonish #13 (November 1960).

Fictional character biography

An extraterrestrial, sentient tree-like creature, the original Groot first appeared as an invader that intended to capture humans for experimentation. He is well-known for just saying "I am Groot", but has different meanings depending on context. He is Rocket Raccoon's best friend and a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Groot has been voiced by Vin Diesel in four movies and has been voiced by Michael Clarke Duncan and Kevin Michael Richardson in cartoons.
