Crafting an oasis of comfort, using some of Mother Nature’s best ingredients. That’s what we set out to do. Featuring cushiony, natural components - like the cotton, hemp and flax we use in the Source mattress.
Take cotton for example. It might be a familiar classic, but our technologists tell us those soft, fluffy cotton fibres are famous for their springiness and airflow enhancing properties – so we thought they’d make an ideal combination for a comfortable night’s sleep.
The cotton we use is upcycled from traditional French mills. But we’ve blended it with home grown hemp and flax, from lush Yorkshire meadows; these two plants have been prized for centuries for their resilience and longevity, and thanks to them we believe your mattress will feel as comfortable at the end of its life as it does at the beginning.
Few people know more about springs than our mattress engineers. So when they told us they’d created a new, even better design, we were all ears.
Usually mattress springs are connected to each other in rows or large groups. So any movement one spring makes is passed on to the next, and the next after that. Across the entire mattress. But our clever QuadCore™ springs are grouped just four at a time, disrupting any ripple effect and limiting motion transfer to encourage more tailored, accurate support.
But that’s not all. Fixing springs with glue can damage them and inhibit movement, so the team were excited to discover another way of connecting them: sonic welding. It sounds cool, and it is – this way the springs themselves remain untouched, undamaged and free to move individually.
Along with the 750 Quadcore™ springs, all our Earth mattresses feature a layer of our patented Aerocoil® springs; they’re central to the award-winning sleep we’re famous for.
There are 2,500 of these titanium alloy micro springs nestling in the upper layers, They work in three, clever ways:
CONTOUR: each small spring compresses, for pressure relief and contoured support
FRESH: they aid the flow of fresh air through the mattress as they compress
CONTROL: their conical shape helps them compress inwards, limiting transfer of movement.
Our Earth mattresses start life on a Yorkshire farm, not a factory. Because that's where many of the crops and materials we use are grown, harvested, and processed.
And the factory where our experienced craftsmen and women set to work is in Yorkshire too – we call it our county of comfort. And although we might use high-tech machines to give us the precise measurements and weights for every layer, it’s these highly skilled teams that stitch and tuft the layers, feeling the mattress, checking the stitching. The way it’s been done for centuries.

Simba Earth mattresses are hand-assembled and hand tufted in UK mattress factories.
Delivered via our VIP delivery service, the Source mattress is delivered flat for immediate use; it arrives in a protective dampproof plastic bag (30% recycled plastic, locally sourced) with FSC cardboard corners.
Delivery is free as standard to almost all of the UK, and in most cases we deliver seven days a week when you pick a date at checkout. Due to the weight of this mattress we recommend delivery to the room where it’s going to be used, and that you keep children at a distance during delivery and unpacking.
Please store flat until required.
If you decide the Source Mattress is not for you, just give us a call within your 200-night mattress trial period. We’ll arrange free collection and refund the cost of your mattress or financing payments already made (excluding delivery charges).
The Source mattress measures 25cm deep and includes 4 carry handles.
Non-removable cover: Made from wool and plant-derived viscose. Wool is sourced through the Traceable British Wool Scheme and woven in Yorkshire.
Upper wool layer: UK wool/fire retardant binder (low melt polyester). Conforms to UK fire safety regulations.
Wool: from UK sheep. Sourced under the Traceable British Wool Scheme which is run in partnership with the British Wool Marketing Board and embraces the ‘Red Tractor’ scheme.
Hemp: Yorkshire grown resource. Chemical free. Waste product used in animal bedding and sustainable building materials.
Flax: Yorkshire grown resource. Chemical free. Waste product used in animal bedding and sustainable building materials.
Cotton: Upcycled from French cotton mills.
2,500 (25mmD) titanium alloy Aerocoil® conical springs, manufactured in Leeds. Enclosed in polypropylene pockets.
Sprung base: 768 high carbon steel QuadCore™ barrel springs manufactured in Leeds. Enclosed in 100% polypropylene pockets via sonic welding.
Protective casing: Made from polyester.
This mattress has a non-removable cover, so we strongly recommend using a mattress protector to prolong the life of
your mattress; the mattress should also be regularly aired, ideally for a few hours every day.
There is no need to turn this mattress, but it will develop natural dips and body impressions so we recommend rotating
the mattress (head to foot) every month for the first 3 months, then every quarter thereafter.
Never use a vacuum cleaner of any kind to clean this mattress, because this may displace the natural fillings. Dust
should be removed with a soft brush, spillages should be mopped up with a dry cloth; if you need to sponge the
mattress, please use a damp cloth and a very mild solution of soap and water. Do not use bleach.
All Simba mattresses come with a 10-year guarantee; if it develops a manufacturing fault during that time we will of course exchange it for a new one.
