Whenever I post something about beefleaf and I use tags "Shi Qingxuan", "Ming Yi", "He Xuan", it always feels so funny like there"s some kind of love triange going on here or better yet - some comedy of positions. Like,

Act I. He Xuan is planning revenge against Shi Wudu by ruining his younger sibling"s life. In order to do that, he takes on the quise of Ming Yi. His plan is to make Shi Qingxuan fall in love with him, ask their hand in marriage, and break up "right at the altar", revealing the truth about Shi Wudu"s crimes, his own identity and his disgust of Shi Qingxuan. He comes to younger Shi both as a noble god Ming Yi and a vile demon He Xuan. Shi Qingxuan befriends one and falls in mutual hatred with the other. Friendship successfully blossoms into love, and soon He Xuan"s behaviour towards Shi Qingxuan changes and becomes rather strange for an enemy. Shi Qingxuan doesn"t understand the reason behind it, but they laugh cruelly and mock He Xuan: "one might think that in front of them is not a mighty demon, but a bashful brat". He Xuan is terrified, because these words make him realize that he"s falling into the trap of love himself, so he decides to hurry up and get it over with. Ming Yi proposes to Shi Qingxuan and receives "yes" as an answer.

Act II. The wedding between Wind Master and Earth Master is announced, but the other morbid announcment follows: He Xuan makes it public knowledge that he would come to this wedding uninvited and ruin it. The great turmoil starts: half of the Heaven gets involved in planning the celebration, the other half gets involved in making sure He Xuan won"t be able seep in. While Shi Qingxuan is busy with security measures, Ming Yi is caught between planning their ideal wedding and imagining their happy family life after it and being torn apart at the face of necessity of ruining his own happiness and happiness of his beloved.

The day of the wedding comes. Ming Yi is nowhere to be seen, but He Xuan suddenly shows up. He"s about to spill the truth, but in the last moment he abandons his initial plan and kidnaps his fiancee instead.

Act III. While Shi Wudu makes preparations for rescuing his sibling from the captivity, Shi Qingxuan is furious but also surprised that He Xuan treats him with a good amount of respect and care. At first Shi Qingxuan is worried that Ming Yi"s disappearance has something to do with He Xuan. He threatens to get even with a demon if he hurt his groom, to which He Xuan replies bitterly and angrily that Ming Yi doesn"t love Shi Qingxuan and never did. These words enrage Wind Master and they give a heated speech about Ming Yi"s sincerety and tenderness behind all walls he builts around himself. Shi Qingxuan passionately declare their love for Ming Yi and their unshakable confidence that the feeiing is mutual. Of course all of this leaves He Xuan in absolute tatters.

Time passes. The search party for Shi Qingxuan doesn"t bear much fruit, but a good action scene will do our comedy good, so let"s say that Shi Wudu and He Xuan have a battle that results in stalemate and He Xuan"s retreat.

Meanwhile at Blackwater"s residence Shi Qingxuan learns that He Xuan isn"t as evil as he pretends to be. Instead, the fearful demon looks lonely and a little lost. Shi Qingxuan feels pity for him at some point and promises that there"s love for every soul in this world, and one day He Xuan will find his happiness for sure. Like Shi Qingxuan did! This is when the monologue about "brilliant, perfect, dear Ming Yi" starts. Shi Qingxuan is so caught in the moment, he doesn"t really notice how He Xuan keeps asking him for more information about "that groom of theirs", and Shi Qingxuan showers Ming Yi with love, affection and praise while He Xuan looks at him absolutely lovestruck. Near the end the monologue takes a melancholic turn, Shi Qingxuan speaks of the parting with his beloved, how much it hurts them and how much it must hurt Ming Yi. They end by addressing He Xuan: "I can see that you are not heartless yourself, if so, you will let me reunite with my love".

Act IV (?). Aaaaand this is where my imagination runs dry. Holy shit, thank you for reading up to this point, I"ll see you at the premiere tonight, but you know how comedies of positions go: identity reveal happens, but everyone is forgiven and loved, and there will be a grandiose wedding (Or two! A good comedy of positions will never suffer from a second romance as side-plot! Thank MXTX for hualian!) and they will all live happily ever after and also gruesome death is not included in the genre, so Shi Wudu keeps his head in this one. Happy end!!!

Beefleaf Hurt/Comfort Piece - "Just This Once"

“M-Ming-xiong! What are you doing here?” Shi Qingxuan winced, realizing his voice was louder than he meant it to be. There was an edge to it, which he should have hidden better. 

“You didn’t come to our designated meeting spot. We were supposed to go down to the mortal realm, remember?”

The Wind Master’s eyes widened, accentuating the eye bags under his eyes. “Oh, Ming-xiong, I’m so sorry. I haven’t been able to get much sleep this past week.”

He Xuan knew that. He was the reason why. Bit by bit, he had the Reverend of Empty Words slowly feed Shi Qingxuan nightmares. His plan was finally coming to fruition.

So why was there a strange tug of his heart as he saw a drained Shi Qingxuan, wilting against his bed frame. 

This is part of the plan. This is part of the plan.

The calamity repeated that phrase like a mantra as he squashed down any feeling of pity for the drained god. 

The Wind Master hadn’t even bothered to get up and draw the curtains back, so the light of his bedroom was minimal. Shadows hugged the contours of his body, and it was a look unbefitting of the bright heavenly being. 

“I’ll come back when you’re feeling better then.”

“Wait!” Shi Qingxuan’s desperate voice rang through the silent room like a gong. 

The false Earth Master felt a tug of his sleeve, only then realizing that he had bridged the distance between the tired god. He had moved from the entrance to his bedside without meaning to. 

He peered down at Shi Qingxuan’s vulnerable doe eyes. “Could you… could you stay with me… just for a little bit?”

He Xuan should leave and let the man bear this alone. Shi Qingxuan should taste a dosage of the suffering that had been inflicted upon him for hundreds of years.

But like the tides to the moon, He Xuan’s body moves with the pull of an unspeakable and unknowable force. 

“...Fine. Just this once,” and for whatever reason, that admission felt like a lie. It sounded like a falsity to himself of all people, which was strange since he had centuries of experience deceiving everyone around him—but never himself. 

(That was a fallacy which would prove to be his downfall, but no one knew it yet.)

He Xuan climbed into the bed next to Shi Qingxuan and was awarded with the Wind Master’s first smile of the day. 

A silence settled between the two elemental gods, which should have unnerved the Earth Master since this was the longest Shi Qingxuan had ever been so quiet. But He Xuan was too busy wondering why he had heeded the brunet’s request. Maybe his missing heart would have known the answer. 

Something must have possessed Shi Qingxuan right then, since there was no other reason to why he began climbing into He Xuan’s lap of all things. 

Without a word, the Wind Master laid his head onto his friend’s chest, hands curling into the black velvet of his robes. He gazed up at him, wondering if the Earth Master would push him off and his bottom would harshly meet the cold tiles below. But He Xuan’s arms had unwittingly wrapped around Shi Qingxuan’s waist to secure him. He truly was no better than Shi Wudu, giving into this spoiled god’s indulgent whims like this. 

“Just this once, Ming-xiong…” His voice was soft, the whisper repeated like a secret. 

He Xuan remembered now that his heart was supposed to be beating. It had stopped when he felt Shi Qingxuan’s warmth seep into his body. And he only recalled that it needed to start back up when the Wind Master turned his head to press his cheek to his chest. 

And with that, the two fell asleep, slipping into a darkness where both found peace—if only for just this once.

Imagine He Xuan managed to keep Shi Qingxuan out of his revenge plan and avoided identity reveal. Blackwater Sinking Ships kills Shi Wudu and Ming Yi is still here. Shi Qingxuan is heartbroken and furious and Ming Yi is still here. Shi Qingxuan doesn"t think he"s ever hated anyone so much. He wants nothing but to avenge his brother. Shi Qingxuan understands that he"s not a warrior and his enemy is a Calamity, so he asks his best friend for help. And Ming Yi agrees. They seek Blackwater, fight him and they win, but Blackwater wounds Ming Yi.

Later Shi Qingxuan takes care of Ming Yi, nurtures him back to health and he is terrified at the thought that not only he lost his brother, but because of his recklessness he almost lost his best friend too. He regrets asking Ming Yi for help, but the other man brushes his worries aside, saying that he wouldn"t let him go alone anyway. Shi Qingxuan feels gratitude beyond words. He confesses that he used to have two most important people in the world: his older brother and his best friend. Maybe he wants to say something else, but he can"t - his throat doesn"t work. Nothing needs to be added anyway, as Ming Yi silently takes his hand and squeezes it.

Some time passes, but Shi Qingxuan doesn"t calm down. Revenge didn"t bring him any relief. Not only that, the more he turns their fight against Blackwater in his head, the more it feels off to him. Could Wind Master and Earth Master take down a demon of Calamity level? Could they, really? He shares his concerns with Ming Yi, but he only looks Qingxuan in the eyes and says: "You"re just being nervous. Blackwater is gone".

He Xuan a niche mukbang youtuber suddenly gets an invite to do a collab video by a super popular influencer who also happens to be his online crush!

How will he survive this?!
