Replikacioni faktor C, podjedinica 5 je protein koji je kod ljudi kodiran RFC5 genom[1][2]
Za elongaciju prajmiranog DNK šablona DNK polimerazom delta i DNK polimerazom epsilon neophodni su pomoćni proteini: proliferativni ćelijski nuklearni antigen (PCNA) i replikacioni faktor C (RFC). RFC, takođe poznat kao aktivator 1, je proteinski kompleks koji se sastoji od pet podjedinica sa 140, 40, 38, 37, i 36 kDa. Ovaj gen kodira 36 kDa podjednicu. Ta podjedinica interaguje sa C-terminalnim regionom PCNA. Ona formira sržni kompleks sa 38 i 40 kDa podjedinicama. Sržni kompleks ispoljava ATPaznu aktivnost, koju stimuliše PCNA u in vitro sistemima. Poznate su alternativno splajsovane transcriptne varijante koje kodiraju različite izoforme.[2]
RFC5 formira interakcije sa BRD4,[3] RFC2,[4][5] PCNA,[4][6][7] RFC4[4][5][8][9] i CHTF18.[10]
