John Banville (8. 12. 1945. –) je ugledni irski romanopisac i novinar. Njegov roman, The Book of Evidence (1989) je bio kandidat za Bookerovu nagradu. To je priznajne godine 2005. osvojio njegov osamnaesti roman 'The Sea.

Banville je poznat po preciznom i hladnom proznom stilu, Nabokovljevskoj inventivnosti, te crnom humoru svojih naratora.
