In the time it will take you to watch this video, 24 people would have lost their lives to #hepatitis. People with a history of drug use, high risk sexual behaviors and needle usage from tattoos and piercings often are at higher risk for hepatitis. Most are reluctant to get screened for the fear of being labeled as someone “who deserves it”. A WHO study found that an estimated 4.5 million premature deaths could be prevented in low- and middle-income countries by 2030 through vaccination, diagnostic tests, medicines, and education campaigns. Diagnostic screening is the first line of defense against hepatitis. A timely diagnosis provides more treatment options and prevents the escalation of hepatitis to Cirrhosis or Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC), which may be irreversible. We spoke to four people who have bravely shared their diagnosis, while millions continue to live in silence. Everyone deserves to get tested, let silence not come in the way of getting screened. http://spkl.io/60424CqK2 #EmpowerPatients #LiverDisease #BreakingBarriers #Hepatitis #HCV

The majority of the world’s #hepatitis cases are found in the Asia Pacific region, with about 94.6 million infected individuals. The reality is many countries in the region are far from reaching the World Health Organization’s Hepatitis elimination goals. At a recent event, @Dr Saeed Hamid, Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine at Aga Khan University, spoke about the need to declare Hepatitis elimination as an emergency target in high-burden countries in the Asia Pacific region, where the battle for global elimination will be won or lost. Did you know that clinical outcomes for cancer in APAC has an estimated mortality-to-incidence ratio (MIR) of 0.52 as compared to 0.32 in the West? This is why innovative technologies like Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) are a potential game-changer in cancer care. This latest paper written by Asia Pacific Medical Technology Association (APACMed), explores NGS’s role in personalised treatment, its real-world impact on patient outcomes, and a value assessment framework to improve access. What would the future of Pathology look like? Currently, conventional workflows present challenges including resource shortage, physical strain, and increasing diagnosis complexity. Over 25 Pathology professionals from 7 key markets in Asia Pacific gathered in Seoul last month for the inaugural 'Roche Digital Pathology Insight Symposium', to discuss how Pathology can go beyond the Light Microscope to an end-to-end suite of digital solutions. Attendees also participated in workshops designed to map out their Digital Pathology (DP) adoption journey and readiness, while exchanging ideas on overcoming barriers to adoption. Key takeaways included: - DP addressed challenges through improvements such as reduced turnaround time, labeling errors, and enabling remote multidisciplinary collaborations. - Adoption challenges, such as pushback from management, were discussed. Attendees exchanged ideas to build a robust business case, such as highlighting that DP leads to efficient use of manpower, workload, and infrastructure. - The potential of AI-powered algorithms to transform DP with increasingly precise diagnoses was highlighted. Roche would like to thank all speakers, participants, and our reference site GC Labs for for their invaluable contributions during the Symposium. #digitalpathology #digitalhealth #diagnostics
