How can you involve local businesses in fundraising events?
Post-event, maintaining and strengthening relationships is paramount. After a charity bike ride organized by my NGO, HER Planet Earth, ongoing communication with sponsors included updates on the impact of their contributions, stories from the beneficiaries of our funds. Establishing a connection beyond the event ensures partners remain engaged and provides opportunities for future collaborations. Regular updates, newsletters, and invitations to follow-up events contribute to a sustained and mutually beneficial relationship. It's really about building that trust and long term partnership.

How can you involve local businesses in fundraising events?
Successful partnerships are built on mutual benefit. In negotiating agreements, it's crucial to understand the unique value each partner brings. For instance, in charity runs organized by one of my NGOs, Women on a Mission, which organises all female expeditions as a way to raise awareness and funds for women impacted by violence, we collaborated with fitness-related businesses. The partnership went beyond financial support; they provided fitness resources and expertise, creating a holistic engagement. Negotiate terms that not only contribute to the fundraising goal but also provide exposure and benefits for the business, fostering a long-term commitment.

How can you involve local businesses in fundraising events?
Crafting a compelling pitch is essential to convey the purpose and impact of the fundraising event. For example, when seeking sponsorships for my NGO, HER Planet Earth's environmental initiatives, we emphasized the shared commitment to sustainability. Businesses were drawn to the opportunity to be associated with a cause that resonated with their environmental values. The pitch should highlight the tangible benefits for the business, showcasing how their support contributes to the community and aligns with their brand identity.

How can you involve local businesses in fundraising events?
In identifying potential partners, it's not just about finding businesses willing to support your cause; it's about forging meaningful connections that align with shared values and goals. Before reaching out to any local business, extensive research is crucial. Look beyond the surface level and seek those who resonate with your mission, vision, and the community or beneficiaries you serve. It’s also important to think about the partners who might want to connect with the community you bring with you or have access to. Is your community made up of the kind of people these businesses are looking to develop a relationship with? If the answer is yes, then you have something to offer them in return for their support and sponsorship dollars.
