Hanoi: A Hidden Gem for Expats Hanoi continues to offer attractive expat packages, making it one of the few cities that still do. While often classified as a hardship posting, the reality is that Hanoi boasts a low cost of living, excellent international schools, and a vibrant food scene. We are actively seeking overseas Vietnamese professionals interested in returning home for exciting opportunities in the financial sector. As Vietnam's economy evolves, recent surveys indicate that nearly half of Vietnamese workers expect annual pay raises of at least 10%. This reflects the growing aspirations for financial growth amidst inflation concerns. At TENTEN Partners, we see immense potential in Hanoi and are eager to connect with talented individuals ready to contribute to this dynamic market. Join us in exploring the opportunities that await!

As we navigate an increasingly uncertain economic landscape, TENTEN Partners is seeing a shift in workplace dynamics. A recent article from Business Insider highlights that many employers are becoming less flexible with workers, requiring more employees to return to the office full-time. This trend is driven by economic fears and a desire for control, as companies look to stabilise their operations amid fluctuating market conditions. The pendulum has definitely swung in favour of the employer now, as the job market is slower moving. This shift is largely due to demand, which will also impact salary increments. While some workers hoped for continued flexibility in remote roles, the reality is that many organisations are reverting to traditional work models. At TENTEN Partners, we recognise the importance of adaptability in today’s job market. We're observing this shift firsthand as more clients seek candidates who are willing to embrace in-office work. While in-office work can foster collaboration and team cohesion, it's essential for employers to consider the long-term implications of these changes on employee morale and productivity. As we move forward, let's advocate for balanced approaches that prioritise both business needs and employee well-being. The key to thriving in this environment lies in fostering a culture of trust and flexibility, even amidst economic uncertainties. Some great tips from our Head of Operations and Chief of Staff Caroline Archer : Setting boundaries and practicing assertiveness are essential components of well-being and self-confidence, crucial not only for your career but also for daily life. Yet, mastering these skills can be challenging. As someone who has navigated various life experiences, I can attest that it remains a continual work in progress. Fortunately, there are concrete strategies to help you strike the right balance—neither too passive nor overly aggressive. The foundation lies in recognising that both your needs and those of others are valid. This requires effort and a commitment to fairness and respect. Anyone with children knows how innate their sense of fairness is; young kids can become quite upset when they perceive an imbalance. This instinct for fairness is deeply rooted in moral psychology. The goal is to express your needs without threatening or insulting others. This can be particularly tricky when addressing a superior. For instance, you might say, “Discussing a salary raise is awkward for both of us, but I have a few important points I’d like you to consider.” Using “I” statements rather than “you” statements can foster a more constructive dialogue. The latter often come across as accusatory and can escalate tensions. For example, you might say, “I’m unsure about the context of this situation, but I need a way to address it,” or “Perhaps I’m missing something, but here’s my perspective.” Another crucial aspect of advocating for yourself is setting clear personal boundaries. These boundaries establish standards for acceptable behaviour and serve as your first line of defence. To empower yourself and enhance your value, consider these straightforward actions: ➡️ Aim for honest and direct communication, even when it feels uncomfortable. ➡️ Communicate calmly and be mindful of your body language—remember to breathe! ➡️ Know and protect both your boundaries and those of others. ➡️ Accept that while you cannot control others, you can manage your reactions. ➡️ Be flexible in your expectations. Standing up for your rights is a vital attribute that enriches all areas of life. Be kind to yourself; no one gets it right all the time. Hopefully, these insights will help you become a more effective advocate for yourself.

Dubai: A Remarkable Success Story Dubai’s extraordinary growth in recent years can largely be attributed to the visionary leadership of HH Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE’s Vice President and Prime Minister. His collaboration with British architect John Harris in the 1970s to create a master plan for the city mirrors the ambitious vision Lee Kuan Yew had for Singapore. With a population of around 10 million, the UAE shares similarities with Singapore, particularly in its strategic planning and development. Looking ahead, Dubai is embracing the 2040 Master Plan, with companies like AWS poised to drive the region's digital transformation through new data centers and significant investments. The government is committed to enhancing greenery, creating vibrant communities, and expanding business opportunities. The real estate boom continues to fuel economic growth, reflecting the proactive approach of the Dubai government, which leads the charge in innovation and planning, much like its Singaporean counterpart. As the UAE diversifies its economy away from oil and gas, it is also investing in a robust space industry and fostering a high-tech sector to spur innovation and job creation, particularly in the ESG arena. At TENTEN Partners, we see immense potential in both Dubai and Singapore, as many of our talented candidates and clients are eager to explore opportunities in these dynamic markets. The growth story is far from over!
