We are thrilled to share the highlights from our recent event, "UX Research Essentials," held in partnership with the lovely folks at Grab Singapore. The evening brought together UX enthusiasts and professionals looking to hear from our speakers, Dr. A. Imran Nordin and Naning Utoyo. Dr. A. Imran Nordin kicked off the session by demystifying UX research. He explored the essentials, explaining what UX research is all about, the different approaches designers and researchers could take, and the best times to conduct research during product development. He also tackled common challenges in UX research, sharing actionable advice to make our research efforts more effective. Building on this foundation, Naning Utoyo demonstrated the power of integrating qualitative and quantitative methodologies. With over a decade of experience in product design and strategy, Naning illustrated how mixed methods can deepen our understanding and generate actionable results. She shared unique challenges and successes from her extensive career, providing fresh perspectives beneficial for both new and experienced researchers. Together, Dr. Nordin and Naning emphasized the importance of using UX research to ground thoroughly innovative yet completely user centric products of the future. Thank you to all who attended and contributed to making this event a success! We look forward to seeing how these insights will shape your research endeavours!

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 In my recent study, "Dynamics of Singapore’s Product Design Job Market: Insights from Industry Leaders," I uncovered the key challenges in design hiring: Communication Skills, Critical Thinking/Problem-Solving, and an Entrepreneurial Mindset. This year, I wanted to dish out some practical advice on design recruitment and through the collaboration of MoneySmart Group & Singapore Product Design, we made it happen I was inspired by Daniel Priestley's CAPSTONE framework (a handy tool for crafting the perfect pitch), and decided to tailor it for design recruitment. Last week, I had the chance to share this adapted framework with the community. Here's how this framework can elevate your job search in the design field. 🔹 𝐂 - Clarity: Articulate your identity, qualifications, and specialization. 🔹 𝐀 - Authority: Establish credibility through recognition, insights, and past projects. 🔹 𝐏 - Problem: Identify and address the company's pain points and product challenges. 🔹 𝐒 - Solution: Showcase your design-thinking process 🔹 𝐓 - The Why: Connect your passion to UX Design principles. 🔹 𝐎 - Opportunity: Paint a vision of mutual benefit for the team/company. 🔹 𝐍 - Next Steps: Initiate action with a compelling call to action. 🔹 𝐄 - Essence: Leave a lasting emotional impression; Emotions shape memory One thing AI can't replicate is the skill of effective communication. Remember: "Your design is only as strong as your ability to confidently defend it" – a sentiment shared by one of my interviewees, and one I deeply resonate with If you're keen to learn more about this framework, feel free to drop me a message! 😊
